Asymmetry Theory and Asymmetry Based Parsing
2015We consider the properties of an integrated competence-performance model where the grammar generates the asymmetrical relations underlying linguistic expressions and the parser recovers these asymmetries. This model relates Asymmetry Theory, which is a theory of the Language Faculty, and asymmetry-based parsing, which is a theory of language use.

Most of the work on search in artificial intelligence (AI) deals with one search direction only-mostly forward search-although it is known that a structural asymmetry of the search graph causes differences in the efficiency of searching in the forward or the backward direction, respectively.

Eleven cases are chosen to illustrate the differential diagnosis of deforming lesions of the bony orbit and its vicinity, which cause unilateral proptosis or other cranio-facial disfigurement. Three distinct varieties of orbito-cranial neurofibromatosis are distinguished, and they are contrasted with other deforming lesions of childhood--unilateral ...

It is a clinician's cliché that a physician only challenges a patient's capacity to make a treatment decision if that decision is not what the physician wants. Agreement is proof of decisional capacity; disagreement is proof or at least evidence of capacity's absence.

Various linear and angular measurements were taken in 118 normal skulls of adult humans. The two halves of the skulls were found to be symmetrical. The phenomenon of asymmetry of various parts of the body, in relation to cerebral dominance and specific skills has been discussed in view of the findings of the study and in the light of the available ...

Amorphous silicon shows abnormal tension–compression asymmetry, with much higher tensile yield strength than compressive yield. This discovery advances our understanding of plasticity in this and other similar amorphous materials.

The information available at present clearly indicates that asymmetry exists from the level of elementary particles to the human cerebral cortex, the latest stage of evolution. Cerebral lateralization is one of the well-known asymmetries. This paper summarizes the data published in the past decades on the asymmetry of the neuroendocrine system.

One of the goals of the management of the developing occlusion and the correction of malocclusion is the establishment of symmetry within the individual arches (arch form) and the occlusal relationships between the maxillary and mandibular arches. The symmetry in arch form is related to the axial inclinations and rotations of the individual teeth.

I am going to discuss the treatment of asymmetries, the cause of which may be dental, functional, skeletal, or combinations of the three. I will spend minimal time reviewing dental and functional asymmetries because they have been well described in the literature. A dental asymmetry diagnosed in the mixed or transitional dentition should be intercepted
