Asymptotic Generalization Bound of Fisher's Linear Discriminant Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fisher's linear discriminant analysis (FLDA) is an important dimension reduction method in statistical pattern recognition. It has been shown that FLDA is asymptotically Bayes optimal under the homoscedastic Gaussian assumption.

Asymptotic analysis of covariance parameter estimation for Gaussian processes in the misspecified case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In parametric estimation of covariance function of Gaussian processes, it is often the case that the true covariance function does not belong to the parametric set used for estimation. This situation is called the misspecified case.

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Asymptotic Analysis of Binary Gas Mixture Separation by Nanometric Tubular Ceramic Membranes: Cocurrent and Countercurrent Flow Patterns [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2006
Analytical gas-permeation models for predicting the separation process across  membranes (exit compositions and area requirement) constitutes an important and necessary step in understanding the overall performance of  membrane modules.

Asymptotic approximations to travelling waves in the diatomic Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattice

open access: yesMathematics in Engineering, 2019
We construct high-order approximate travelling waves solutions of the diatomic Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattice using asymptotic techniques which are valid for arbitrary mass ratios.

Asymptotic analysis and spectrum of three anyons

open access: yes, 1993
The spectrum of anyons confined in harmonic oscillator potential shows both linear and nonlinear dependence on the statistical parameter. While the existence of exact linear solutions have been shown analytically, the nonlinear dependence has been ...

Peaks and Troughs in Helioseismology: The Power Spectrum of Solar Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
I present a matched-wave asymptotic analysis of the driving of solar oscillations by a general localised source. The analysis provides a simple mathematical description of the asymmetric peaks in the power spectrum in terms of the relative locations of ...

Fabrication‐Directed Entanglement for Designing Chiral and Anisotropic Metamaterial Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces fabrication‐directed entanglement (FDE), combining viscous thread printing and topology optimization to program entangled foams with spatially patterned stiffness. By tuning coil density, FDE enables anisotropy, programmable Poisson's ratio, and chirality in foams.

A Moment Approach for a Conditional Central Limit Theorem of Infinite-Server Queue: A Case of M/MX/ Queue

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
Several studies have been conducted on scaling limits for Markov-modulated infinite-server queues. To the best of our knowledge, most of these studies adopt an approach to prove the convergence of the moment-generating function (or characteristic ...
