Physics‐Constrained Constitutive Learning of Rate‐Limiting Timescales for Efficient Hydrogen‐Based Direct Reduction for Green Steel Making

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A conversion‐resolved constitutive framework is developed for the hydrogen‐based direct reduction of iron oxide pellets. Effective reaction and transport timescales are inferred directly from measured trajectories and mapped against operating conditions, pellet architecture, and composition. The analysis reveals how late‐stage transport control emerges

Sustainable Productivity Growth in Agriculture: The Role of Shifts in R&D Investments and Technology

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The objective of the paper is to evaluate the long‐term prospects of sustainable productivity growth linked to plausible assumptions on public agricultural R&D investments as the key productivity driver. Second, it investigates the role of changing R&D focus from yield maximization to input saving technologies (fertilizers and pesticides). The

Inflation of type I error rates by unequal variances associated with parametric, nonparametric, and Rank-Transformation Tests

open access: yesPsicológica, 2004
It is well known that the two-sample Student t test fails to maintain its significance level when the variances of treatment groups are unequal, and, at the same time, sample sizes are unequal. However, introductory textbooks in psychology

Do Tax Incentives for Farmland Leases Increase Farm Supply? Evidence From Iowa's Beginning Farmer Tax Credit

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In recent decades, agriculture has become increasingly concentrated through horizontal mergers and acquisitions via corporate entities, and policy makers are concerned this will be exacerbated by the aging population of farm operators. To reduce market concentration in agriculture, many states have enacted policies to entice new prospective ...

On the Effect of Nonstationary Initial Conditions in Dynamic Panel Data Models [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider dynamic panel data models with possibly nonstationary initial conditions. We derive the asymptotic properties of the GMM estimators with various kinds of instruments when both N and T are large, where N and T denote the ...

Asymptotic properties of canonical correlation analysis for one group with additional observations

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 2013
We develop canonical correlation analysis in the context of two-step monotone incomplete data drawn from N"p"+"q(@m,@S), a multivariate normal population with mean @m and covariance matrix @S. Our data consist of n observations on each group and an additional N-n observations on only one group, where all observations are mutually independent.

A Skills Gap Analysis of Farmer Directors of US Farmer Cooperatives

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Boards of directors are vital to firm performance and are an integral part of the decision‐making process of any business. Several studies have been conducted that observe corporate or nonprofit board characteristics, skills, and the board's connection to firm performance.

Asymptotic mapping class groups of Cantor manifolds and their finiteness properties

open access: yesRevista Matemática Iberoamericana
We prove that the infinite family of asymptotic mapping class groups of surfaces defined by Funar-Kapoudjian and Aramayona-Funar are of type F1, thus answering a problem of Funar-Kapoudjian-Sergiescu and a question of Aramayona- Funar. This result is a specific case of a more general theorem which allows us to deduce that asymptotic mapping class ...

Optimal vaccination model of airborne infection under variable humidity and demographic heterogeneity for hybrid fractional operator technique

open access: yesScientific Reports
Airborne respiratory tract infection typically occurs seasonally in subtropical countries, particularly during winter, when transmission and fatality rates considerably rise, indicating that low humidity and freezing temperatures facilitate the ...

Consumer Preferences for Craft Beer: The Interplay of Localness and Advertising Language

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores the influence of the language of the label, origin of production, and origin of brewing ingredients on Croatian consumers' preferences and willingness to pay for organic craft beer. Employing an online survey and a choice experiment among 223 Croatian alcohol consumers, we find that while there's a willingness to pay a ...
