On Regular Best Asymptotically Normal Estimates
This study was initiated in connection with estimating parameters involved in a certain stochastic process of population growth. Because of the nature of distribution functions arising in such studies, the usual methods of estimation result in formulas which are so complex that it is difficult, if not impossible, to obtain explicit solutions for the ...

Stochastic Gradient Descent in High Dimensions for Multi‐Spiked Tensor PCA
ABSTRACT We study the high‐dimensional dynamics of online stochastic gradient descent (SGD) for the multi‐spiked tensor model. This multi‐index model arises from the tensor principal component analysis (PCA) problem with multiple spikes, where the goal is to estimate the unknown signal vectors within the N$N$‐dimensional unit sphere through maximum ...

Robustness Property of Robust-BD Wald-Type Test for Varying-Dimensional General Linear Models
An important issue for robust inference is to examine the stability of the asymptotic level and power of the test statistic in the presence of contaminated data.

We apply proof mining techniques to obtain quantitative and qualitative results on asymptotic and T-asymptotic regularity for the inexact generalized Halpern iteration, a viscosity-type extension of an iteration recently studied by Kanzow and Shehu. Specializing our results to the Kanzow-Shehu iteration and the sequential averaging method (SAM) yields ...

Compact Manifolds With Unbounded Nilpotent Fundamental Groups and Positive Ricci Curvature
ABSTRACT It follows from the work of Kapovitch and Wilking that a closed manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature has a uniformly almost nilpotent fundamental group. Leftover questions and conjectures, have asked if in this context the fundamental group is actually uniformly almost abelian. The main goal of this work is to construct examples (Mk9,gk)$(

Parabolic transmission problems across irregular layers
We study second order transmission problems across either a fractal surface or across the corresponding pre-fractal surface. Existence uniqueness and regularity results for the strict solution in both cases are proved. The asymptotic behaviour of the ...

Asymptotic analysis for vanishing acceleration in a thermoviscoelastic system
We have investigated a dynamic thermoviscoelastic system (2003), establishing existence and uniqueness results for a related initial and boundary values problem.

On the Asymptotic Behavior of Regularized Operator Families
Let us assume that \((R(t))_{t\geq 0}\) is an (a,k)-regularized resolvent family with generator A on a Banach space X. In this work we study different types of asymptotic behavior of R(t) for large values of t.

What happens, if in the synthesis of flat silver platelets, the slow deposition of silver along twinning faults is disturbed by the addition of a nobler metal? We have looked into it and found a way to fine‐tune the metal deposition in lateral and vertical direction.

On regular growth and asymptotic stability
The authors consider differential equations of the form (*) \(y''+q(x)y=0\) where q(x) is right-continuous, nondecreasing and such that \(\lim_{x\to X}q(x)=+\infty.\) They assume that for some solution y(x) of (*), \(\lim_{x\to X}y(x)\neq 0.\) Then, they prove that the growth of q(x) is ``irregular'', in a precise technical sense.
