Global asymptotic stability for a vector disease model with spatial spread
Journal of Mathematical Biology, 1980We analyze the global behaviour of a vector disease model which involves spatial spread and hereditary effects. This model can be applied to investigate growth and spread of malaria. No immunization is considered. We prove that, if the recovery rate is less than or equal to a threshold value, the disease dies out, otherwise the infectious people ...

Analytic spread and non-vanishing of asymptotic depth
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 2017AbstractLetSbe a polynomial ring over a fieldKof characteristic zero and letM⊂Sbe an ideal given as an intersection of powers of incomparable monomial prime ideals (e.g., the case whereMis a squarefree monomial ideal). In this paper we provide a very effective, sufficient condition for a monomial prime idealP⊂ScontainingMbe such that the ...

The Asymptotic Speed of Spread and Traveling Waves for a Vector Disease Model
Journal of Dynamics and Differential Equations, 2006The authors study a host-vector model for a disease without immunity in which the current density of infections is related to the number of infectious hosts at earlier times. This model takes form of the following time-delayed integro-differential equation \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}(t,x) = d\Delta u(t,x) -au(t,x) + b(1-u(t,x))\int_{-\infty}^{t ...

Asymptotics of an estimator of a robust spread functional
1996Summary: The functional \(S(F)= \text{med}_{X\sim F} (\text{med}_{Y\sim F} |X-Y |)\) proposed by \textit{P. J. Rousseeuw} and \textit{C. Croux} [J. Am. Stat. Assoc. 88. No. 424, 1273-1283 (1993; Zbl 0792.62025)] exists for any distribution \(F\), because no moments are needed.

Acquisition in direct-sequence spread-spectrum communication networks: an asymptotic analysis
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1993The effect of multiple-access interference on the acquisition of direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) signals is studied. A passive matched filter approach is used, and the acquisition window length, which is the length of the matched filter, determines the complexity of the acquisition scheme.
