Asymptotic Dam Theory [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1966
IN a previous communication1, an asymptotic theory was outlined for the probabilistic behaviour of a finite dam or reservoir subject to random input and output. A further problem raised by Herman Rubin—that of the amount of water lost by overflow—may be solved by similar methods.

Asymptotically Free Gauge Theories. I [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1973
Asymptotically free gauge theories of the strong interactions are constructed and analyzed. The reasons for doing this are recounted, including a review of renormalization-group techniques and their application to scaling phenomena. The renormalization-group equations are derived for Yang-Mills theories. The parameters that enter into the equations are

Asymptotic Theory for Clustered Samples [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2017
We provide a complete asymptotic distribution theory for clustered data with a large number of independent groups, generalizing the classic laws of large numbers, uniform laws, central limit theory, and clustered covariance matrix estimation. Our theory allows for clustered observations with heterogeneous and unbounded cluster sizes.

Asymptotic theory for gene mapping. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1994
In genetic linkage mapping, the precision of the location estimate depends on both the number of individuals and the number of markers. Convergence rates and limit laws are established for several situations in which the number of markers depends on the sample size. Practical implications of the results are discussed.

Inflation from asymptotically safe theories [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2015
We investigate models in which inflation is driven by an ultraviolet safe and interacting scalar sector stemming from a new class of nonsupersymmetric gauge field theories. These new theories, differently from generic scalar models, are well defined to arbitrary short distances because of the existence of a controllable ultraviolet interacting fixed ...

Asymptotic theory and econometric practice [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Econometrics, 1988
AbstractThe classical paradigm of asymptotic theory employed in econometrics presumes that model dimensionality, p, is fixed as sample size, n, tends to inifinity. Is this a plausible meta‐model of econometric model building? To investigate this question empirically, several meta‐models of cross‐ sectional wage equation models are estimated and it is ...

Asymptotic estimates in perturbation theory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1977
Functional methods are used to estimate the contribution of very high orders of the perturbative expansion in quantum field theory.
