The mechanism of directional coronary atherectomy [PDF]
An attempt was made to assess the mechanism of directional coronary atherectomy using different methods of analysis. Quantitative coronary angiography was used as the gold standard to assess the immediate results of atherectomy, and a comparative quantitative analysis of atherectomy and balloon angioplasty was made.

Current Status of Coronary Atherectomy [PDF]
There are several techniques for performing coronary atherosclerotic plaque modification, known as atherectomy . Historically, clinical trials show mostly equivalence between various coronary atherectomy techniques, balloon angioplasty, and percutaneous

Successful Retrieval of a Fractured and Detached Crown From a Coronary Orbital Atherectomy System
We report a rare case of crown fracture and detachment from a coronary orbital atherectomy system. During orbital atherectomy in an angulated and calcified coronary vessel, the crown was completely detached and left distal to the stenosis.

Transient Asystole From Pacing Inhibition During Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
A 68-year-old man with a biventricular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator who was pacemaker dependent was admitted for percutaneous coronary intervention.

When rotational atherectomy is not enough
Extreme coronary calcification may require rotational atherectomy to create a navigable intravascular lumen followed by intravascular lithotripsy to fracture areas of deep calcification to allow for successful percutaneous coronary intervention.

Directional Coronary Atherectomy [PDF]
Directional coronary atherectomy (DCA) was originally developed as a potential replacement for balloon angioplasty. The design of the catheter used to perform DCA offered several unique advantages. First, it was capable of removing obstructive atherosclerotic lesions.
