Relationship Between Atherogenic Index of Plasma and Hypertension in Chinese Middle‐Aged and Older Adults: A Cross‐Sectional and Longitudinal Analysis Based on CHARLS

open access: yesAging Medicine
Objectives Atherosclerosis is the underlying pathology of cardiovascular disease (CVD), including hypertension. Unfortunately, the association between the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and hypertension has not been reported in a large‐scale middle ...

APOE4 negates the effects of ovarian hormones on cerebrovascular endothelial and mitochondrial function

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We examined the interaction effect of ovarian hormones and APOE genotype on cerebrovascular and mitochondrial function. Our data revealed that APOEε3 mice that were ovariectomized exhibited impaired endothelial function and greater oxidative stress and inflammation compared to sham controls.

Correlation between atherogenic index of plasma and retinal vessels in the fundus: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Background The Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) is a novel logarithmic index that combines fasting triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations and is associated with the burden of atherosclerosis.

Pulsed Electric Field Processing Enhances the Endothelial Bioefficacy of Red Beet (Beta vulgaris L.) Extracts by Restoring Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase–Nitric Oxide Signaling in High‐Fat Diet Rats

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Pulsed electric field (PEF) processing qualitatively reshapes the phytochemical profile of red beet extracts, resulting in enhanced endothelial bioefficacy. Compared with conventional extraction, PEF‐treated extracts more effectively restore nitric oxide signaling, suppress endothelial inflammation, and normalize vascular structure in high‐fat diet ...

Evaluation of the Antioxidant Status of Ethanolic Extract of Hypericum perforatum and Its Effect on Performance, Immune System, Antioxidant Status and Plasma Biochemical Indices of Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Hypericum perforatum ethanolic extract (HPEE) at the levels of 0, 150, 300 and 450 mg/kg were used and dietary treatments did not affect growth performance including feed intake, body weight and feed conversion ratio. The HPPE reduced the abdominal fat and improved meat quality in broilers.

Study of Serum Vitamin D Levels, Atherogenic Index of Plasma, and Cardiovascular Risk in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesNational Board of Examinations Journal of Medical Sciences
Background: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, largely driven by atherogenic dyslipidaemia.

Atherogenic index of plasma identifies subjects with severe liver steatosis

open access: yesScientific Reports
Abstract The Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), calculated by log (Triglycerides/HDL-C), has been proposed as a marker of atherogenic and cardiovascular risk. Atherosclerosis and Metabolic Dysfunction—Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) share some pathogenic features and may be considered clinical manifestations of Metabolic Syndrome ...

High Prevalence of Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatohepatitis With Significant Fibrosis in Primary Care and Endocrinology Clinics

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 6184-6193, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a leading cause of cirrhosis. NIS2+ is a recently approved serum‐based test combining two biomarkers (miR‐34a‐5p and YKL‐40) to identify at‐risk MASH (i.e., MASH and significant fibrosis). Objective To assess the prevalence of at‐risk MASH by NIS2+ in individuals from primary care

Context‐Dependent Effects of Apolipoprotein A2 on Lipid Metabolism and Atherogenesis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 12, 30 June 2026.
Proposed model of the pro‐atherogenic role of APOA2 in dyslipidemia. Under conditions of dyslipidemia (ldlr−/− and apoe−/− mice), APOA2 promotes a reduction in VLDL through its conversion to LDL via an LDLR‐independent pathway. LDL is then deposited to the aorta and aortic root. In the ldlr−/− mice, the presence of APOE may mitigate the rate of VLDL to

Positive and Negative Cardiovascular Effects of JAK Inhibitors in Inflammation

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
Chronic inflammation, characteristic of many autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), or myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), is an independent driver of accelerated cardiovascular (CV) risk, primarily through proinflammatory cytokines that induce atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction.
