Dyslipidemia among Patients with End Stage Renal Disease on Maintenance Hemodialysis

open access: yesKurdistan Journal of Applied Research, 2018
Dyslipidemia has been suggested to be one of the factors that contribute to the high incidence of cardiovascular disease in hemodialysis patients. Previous studies suggest that end-stage renal disease may contribute to dyslipidemia. The aim of the study:

Plasma Atherogenic Index Predicts Malignant Arrhythmias in Non–STElevation Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine
Background: Malignant ventricular arrhythmias are serious complications of non–ST-elevation myocardial infarction. The plasma atherogenic index, derived from triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, reflects atherogenic dyslipidemia.

Association between atherogenic index of plasma and periodontitis among U.S. adults

open access: yesBMC Oral Health, 2023
Background Serum lipids have been proven to influence periodontitis. The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is an important marker of lipid levels. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between periodontitis and AIP in adults ...

Atherogenic index of plasma as a Novel Biomarker to Predict Retinal Vein Occlusion

open access: yesHitit Medical Journal
Objective: Atherogenic index of plasma is a relatively new index used to predict the risk of cardiovascular diseases in the general population. Our aim was to investigate association between the development of retinal vein occlusion and atherogenic index

Higher Atherogenic Index of Plasma Is Associated with Hyperuricemia: A National Longitudinal Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2023
Background. The association between atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and hyperuricemia remains indistinct. This study was aimed to examine the relationship between AIP and hyperuricemia among the middle-aged and the elderly Chinese population. Methods.

Anthropometrics and Plasma Atherogenic Index in Saudi Women Madinah KSA

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Medical Sciences, 2023
Objective: to determine the lipid profile levels and association with anthropometric measurements and atherogenic index of plasma values in females from Taibah University. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2019 to January 2020 at the female section of Taibah University, located in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1059-1080, April 2025.
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

Gut microbiota‐related modulation of immune mechanisms in post‐infarction remodelling and heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 942-954, April 2025.
Abstract The immune system has long been recognized as a key driver in the progression of heart failure (HF). However, clinical trials targeting immune effectors have consistently failed to improve patient outcome across different HF aetiologies. The activation of the immune system in HF is complex, involving a broad network of pro‐inflammatory and ...

Relationship between the atherogenic index of plasma and arthritis in American adults: Findings from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005–2018

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research
Objective Arthritis is an acute or chronic inflammatory joint disease characterized by pain and stiffness that typically worsen with aging. It is often accompanied with joint rigidity, cartilage degeneration, and pathological changes, such as monocyte ...
