Association of atherogenic index of plasma trajectory with the incidence of cardiovascular disease over a 12-year follow-up: findings from the ELSA cohort study

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) at baseline has been associated with increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the relationship between long-term AIP trajectories and CVD remains unclear.

Quantitative proteomics identifies clusterin as a novel biomarker for atherosclerosis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This schematic illustrates the proposed mechanism. In advanced atherosclerotic lesions, upregulated CLU on the cell surface activates low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor‐related protein 1 (LRP1). This interaction triggers the phosphorylation and activation of AKT.

Atherogenic index of plasma is a novel and strong predictor associated with fatty liver: a cross-sectional study in the Chinese Han population

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2019
Background Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) has been reported to be an important predictor for coronary artery disease and obesity. However, few studies has yet systematically evaluated the association between AIP and Fatty Liver (FL) and its advantage ...

Association between atherogenic index of plasma and new-onset stroke in individuals with different glucose metabolism status: insights from CHARLS

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Circulating atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) levels has been proposed as a novel biomarker for dyslipidemia and as a predictor of insulin resistance (IR) risk.

The atherogenic index of plasma and carotid atherosclerosis in a community population: a population-based cohort study in China

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology, 2023
Background The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is an important alternative metabolic biomarker of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. Nevertheless, the correlation between the AIP and carotid atherosclerosis is unknown among the general ...

Cytokine Pathways Driving Diverse Tissue Pathologies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex systemic disorder characterized primarily by articular inflammation and destruction with associated functional loss and reduced quality of life. RA is also associated with extra‐articular disease, such as that of the lung, with potentially devastating clinical consequences. The critical importance of comorbidities,

Association Between Cumulative Atherogenic Index of Plasma and New‐Onset Stroke Among Middle‐Aged and Elderly Chinese Patients With Stages 0–3 Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome: A Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesBrain and Behavior
Background Cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) syndrome represents the interaction among chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders.

LIPID SPECTRUM IN PATIENTS WITH ESSENTIAL ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION AND HEALTHY PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT NOS2 GENE ALLELIC VARIATIONS

open access: yesTransactions of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2020
The plasma lipid profile was analyzed in healthy people and patients with essential arterial hypertension (EAH) (stages I–II) with different allelic variations in the inducible nitric oxide synthase (NOS2) gene polymorphic markers (rs1800482 and ...

Association between the atherogenic index of plasma and long-term risk of type 2 diabetes: a 12-year cohort study based on the Japanese population

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Atherosclerotic dyslipidemia is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Although previous studies have demonstrated an association between the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and insulin resistance, there remains a scarcity of large

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.
