Cyanobacteria of inselbergs in the Atlantic rainforest zone of eastern Brazil

Phycologia, 2002
Abstract Inselbergs of the Atlantic rainforest zone in south-eastern Brazil typically appear black because of the presence of a dense cyanobacterial film. We investigated this autotrophic, microorganism covering on the exposed rock surfaces of five selected inselbergs along a latitudinal gradient, from Parati Mirim in the south to Serra dos Amores in ...

Patterns of Species and Lineage Diversity in the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil

2020
The Atlantic rainforest of Brazil harbors outstanding species richness and levels of endemism, representing one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. Yet, a lot is still unknown about the spatial and temporal evolution of its biota. While the history of the region is complex, with taxa often showing distinct richness patterns and evolutionary ...

Functional and Taxonomic Diversity of Stinging Wasps in Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest Areas

Neotropical Entomology, 2013
Vespoidea are the most functionally diverse superfamily of Hymenoptera. Ecological studies involving this family are primarily based on eusocial groups, including ants and social paper wasps. In the present study, we examine stinging wasp (Vespoidea) faunal diversity in the Atlantic Rain Forest, which is one of the most diverse and threatened ...
