Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A Rare Presentation of Os Odontoideum with Multiple Vertebral Fusion in Type III Klippel-Feil Syndrome (KFS) – A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014
An abnormal atlas and axis with presence of os odontoideum and fusion of multiple vertebrae were noted in an intact skeleton, in the osteology museum of the Department of Anatomy of North Bengal Medical College, West Bengal, India. These multiple ...

ATG4B is required for mTORC1‐mediated anabolic activity and is associated with clinical outcomes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

PSACNN: Pulse Sequence Adaptive Fast Whole Brain Segmentation

open access: yes, 2019
With the advent of convolutional neural networks~(CNN), supervised learning methods are increasingly being used for whole brain segmentation. However, a large, manually annotated training dataset of labeled brain images required to train such supervised ...

The Human Brainnetome Atlas: A New Brain Atlas Based on Connectional Architecture

open access: yesCerebral Cortex, 2016
The human brain atlases that allow correlating brain anatomy with psychological and cognitive functions are in transition from ex vivo histology-based printed atlases to digital brain maps providing multimodal in vivo information.

Lesion Location and Functional Connections Reveal Cognitive Impairment Networks in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive impairment, fatigue, and depression are common in multiple sclerosis (MS), potentially due to disruption of regional functional connectivity caused by white matter (WM) lesions. We explored whether WM lesions functionally connected to specific brain regions contribute to these MS‐related manifestations.

Interactive three-dimensional atlas of the mineralized skeleton of the sand tiger shark Carcharias taurus

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Non-invasive computed tomography (CT) of an adult sand tiger shark Carcharias taurus Rafinesque, 1810 is used to provide an interactive three-dimensional ‘general’ shark (Selachimorpha) anatomy atlas.

Complete occipitalization of atlas vertebra with other congenital malformations - a rare variation

open access: yesNational Journal of Clinical Anatomy, 2015
Occipitalization of the atlas vertebra or atlantooccipital fusion represents the most cephaled blocked vertebra found in the vertebral column. It is defined as the congenital bony fusion of the atlas vertebra to the base of the occipital bone of the ...

CSF Levels of NPTX2 Are Associated With Less Brain Atrophy Over Time in Cognitively Unimpaired Individuals

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuronal pentraxin 2 (NPTX2) is a synaptic protein involved in synaptic plasticity and regulation of neuronal excitability. Lower baseline cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) NPTX2 levels have been shown to be associated with an earlier onset of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a pre‐dementia syndrome, even after CSF Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

Bayesian Estimation of Probabilistic Atlas for Anatomically-Informed Functional MRI Group Analyses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceTraditional analyses of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) use little anatomical information. The registration of the images to a template is based on the individual anatomy and ignores functional information; subsequently
