Abstract Initialized climate prediction systems provide forecasts on seasonal‐to‐decadal timescales, but their computational cost has motivated the development of cheaper alternatives such as analog‐based approaches. Recent studies suggest that constraining large climate model ensembles using analogs of past sea surface temperature (SST) can yield ...

Unlocking Urban Climate Change Analysis in Global Kilometer‐Scale Climate Simulations
Abstract Coupled multi‐decadal global km‐scale simulations completed in recent years open new perspectives in the investigation and understanding of urban climate change. This study introduces a generic method for extracting urban areas and their rural references worldwide and validates it on hourly timescales with remote‐sensing observations of land ...

Abstract Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the leading cause of death in Mexican children, yet water‐mediated environmental pathways remain largely unexplored as contributors to its spatial distribution. We analyzed ALL mortality records for individuals aged 0–19 years across all Mexican municipalities from 2003 to 2023, using publicly available ...

ABSTRACT The common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is a resident species along the Portuguese mainland coast, yet knowledge of its stranding patterns and feeding ecology is scarce. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of strandings (n = 264, from 1980 to 2019) and feeding ecology based on stomach content analysis (n = 43 from 1997 to

Non‐Stationary Dry‐Spell Hazard Probabilities for Spain
This study assesses long‐term changes in dry‐spell hazard probabilities across Spain (1961–2024) using a novel non‐stationary extreme value framework applied to daily precipitation records from a dense observational network. Results show that dry‐spell duration and associated return levels are dominantly stationary, with non‐stationary models providing

Extreme rainfall in Madeira: the June 2023 weather event
This study investigates the meteorological conditions behind the extreme precipitation event on 6 June 2023 over Madeira Island, Portugal. The event set a national daily record of 497.5mm and was unusual for occurring in early summer, as most extremes in the region occur in winter.

A Top‐Down View of Global and Regional Carbon Budgets From an Ensemble of Atmospheric Inversions
Abstract Atmospheric inversions provide surface CO2 flux estimates based on in situ observed atmospheric CO2 mole fractions or satellite‐based column average CO2 (XCO2). Here, we provide a detailed assessment of 14 atmospheric CO2 inversions included in the Global Carbon Budget (GCB2024).
