Abstract We discuss the role of the concentration increase of atmospheric CH4 (currently ≈ 0.8% yr−1) in climate change, including effects through chemical feedbacks, notably through formation of O3 and stratospheric H2O, and reduction of OH levels, which increases the lifetime of CH4.

The interaction of light with particles suspended in the air is the cause of some beautiful effects. Among these effects are the colors of the sunset, the blue of the sky, and the appearance of a scene in fog. A lighting model that takes into account the effects of scattering by suspended particles is presented.

The Effect of Sunset on Atmospherics

The paper describes the results of observations on the nature of the Effect of Sunset on Atmospherics. An automatic device specially constructed for the purpose was employed and with its aid, records of atmospherics on two wavelengths (37·5 metres and 375 metres) were taken for about two minutes at intervals of one hour throughout the day.
