Atmospheric Gravity Waves and Aircraft Turbulence Encounters [PDF]
Abstract We describe aircraft turbulence-atmospheric gravity wave events which occurred during a 2-day period over the Continental Divide. The waves are observed by two microbarograph networks an each side of the divide and last for several hours at a time.

Acoustic-gravity waves in atmospheric and oceanic waveguides
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012A theory of guided propagation of sound in layered, moving fluids is extended to include acoustic-gravity waves (AGWs) in waveguides with piecewise continuous parameters. The orthogonality of AGW normal modes is established in moving and motionless media.

Mirages with Atmospheric Gravity Waves
Light and Color in the Open Air, 1993Mirages observed over an interval of time occasionally display slow variations that seem to be periodic.

ON GRAVITY WAVES IN THE ATMOSPHERE
Journal of Meteorology, 1954Abstract Seven times in a year's continuous observations, marked oscillations with periods from 5 to 15 minutes were simultaneously recorded on a barograph and a damped anemometer located at La Jolla, California. The oscillations often followed a reversal of the land- and sea-breeze regime, and they were sometimes preceded by a pressure pulse ...

Atmospheric gravity waves due to the Tohoku‐Oki tsunami observed in the thermosphere by GOCE [PDF]
International audienceOceanic tsunami waves couple with atmospheric gravity waves, as previously observedthrough ionospheric and airglow perturbations. Aerodynamic velocities and density variations are computed from Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean ...

An Introduction to Atmospheric Gravity Waves
Gravity waves exist in all types of geophysical fluids, such as lakes, oceans, and atmospheres. They play an important role in redistributing energy at disturbances, such as mountains or seamounts and they are routinely studied in meteorology and ...

Atmospheric gravity waves and the 'Rissaga' phenomenon
Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1991AbstractThe atmospheric forcing of large sea‐level oscillations (up to 1.5 m amplitude with about a 10 min period) in some bays and inlets of the Balearic Islands is described using simultaneous measurements of pressure and sea‐level elevation in the port of Ciutadella (at the end of a large and narrow inlet) during 5–7 July 1989.
