High Performance Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) Made by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS)

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2008
Abstract The potential of atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) technology has been investigated for the manufacture of anode, electrolyte and cathode of a solid oxide fuel cell. As substrates tape-casted or commercial available porous plates both made of a FeCr-alloy were used.

Analysis of the influence of atmospheric plasma spray (APS) parameters on adhesion properties of alumina-titania coatings

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2004
Alumina-13 wt% titania wear resistant coatings were deposited using the Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) process under several processing conditions. Coating adhesion was then measured locally on cross sections by the indentation test and results were correlated with process variables.

Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) Low-Temperature Cathode Materials for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs)

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2009
Abstract Atmospheric plasma spraying is attractive for manufacturing solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) because it allows functional layers to be built rapidly with controlled microstructures. The technique allows SOFCs that operate at low temperatures (500 to 700 °C) to be fabricated by spraying directly onto metallic supports.

Tribological behaviour of TiO2 Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) coating under mixed and boundary lubrication conditions in presence of oil containing MoDTC

Tribology International, 2018
Abstract Tribological behaviour of steel APS coating and TiO 2 APS coating was investigated and compared with reference steel material under boundary lubrication in presence of MoDTC. Significant friction and wear reduction was observed in case of TiO 2 APS coating compared to conventional steel and steel APS coating.

Modelling a Plasma Torch for Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS): Optimization of Particle Injection Near the Torch Outlet According to the Gas Flow within the Torch

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2006
Abstract Understanding the particle injection into the gas flow issuing from an APS torch is necessary to optimize the spraying parameters. In order to solve numerically this task, the distribution of gas velocity and temperature at the torch outlet is required.

Effect of Powder Morphology on Surface Topography and Compositional Homogeneity of Oxide Coatings Deposited by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS)

Materials Research Proceedings
Abstract. This study aimed to assess the 3D surface roughness and chemical composition of APS coatings deposited on steel substrates. Two coatings were examined: TiO₂ on 41Cr4 steel and a TiO₂+ZrO₂+Al₂O₃ mixture on 316L steel. Microscopic observations using a KEYENCE VHX-6000 with 3D topography analysis showed lower Sa and Sq values for the TiO₂ ...

Influence of Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) parameters on the phase composition and microstructure of bismuth-containing 45S5 bioactive glass coatings

The study investigates the influence of atmospheric plasma spray (APS) parameters on the structure and chemistry of coatings produced from a bismuth-containing 45S5 bioactive glass (Bi-BG). A melt-derived glass modified with the addition of 6.3 wt.% Bi2O3 was used as the feedstock powder, selected for its previously demonstrated radiopacity ...
