Atmospheric pressure plasmas: A review
Spectrochimica Acta Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy, 2006This article attempts to give an overview of atmospheric plasma sources and their applications. The aim is to introduce, in a first part, the main scientific background concerning plasmas as well as the different atmospheric plasma sources (description, working principle).

Atmospheric Pressure Plasmas: Polymerization
2016Atmospheric pressure plasma polymerization (APPP) has been revealed as a real alternative to other lowpressure methods for the deposition of a wide range of polymer materials and with industrial applicability. The influence of the deposition conditions on the plasma and polymer film properties has been studied in order to understand the mechanisms ...

Atmospheric-pressure plasma technology
Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2004Major industrial plasma processes operating close to atmospheric pressure are discussed. Applications of thermal plasmas include electric arc furnaces and plasma torches for generation of powders, for spraying refractory materials, for cutting and welding and for destruction of hazardous waste.

Plasma diffusion in the atmospheric pressure plasma jets
2011 Abstracts IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 2011The plasma diffusion has been investigated with respect to the atmospheric-pressure plasma jets (APPJ). The ambi-polar diffusion equation is solved in the radial and axial directions. To explain the plasma diffusion process, the plasma diffusion equation is derived with the charged particle motion and the plasma fluid continuity equation1.

Tooth Bleaching with Nonthermal Atmospheric Pressure Plasma
Journal of Endodontics, 2009We demonstrated that room temperature plasma could be used for tooth bleaching. A nonthermal, atmospheric pressure, helium plasma jet device was developed to enhance the tooth bleaching effect of hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)). All teeth were sectioned sagittally into halves, which were assigned randomly to either the experimental group or the control ...

Control and Propulsion of an Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Ring
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2008A new approach for the electromagnetic control and propulsion of a current carrying electric arc plasma ring is described. The essence of the approach is to form and manipulate the arc plasma outside rather than inside a magnetic field producing coil so that pulsed plasma thrusts can be produced in a choice of different directions.

Graphene synthesis by atmospheric pressure microwave plasma
2015 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS), 2015By injecting ethanol molecules into the argon plasma environment graphene sheets can be produced [1]. From this motivation the atmospheric pressure 2.45 GHz microwave plasma source was built. The argon and helium discharges with ethanol were obtained in a quartz tube which placed in a rectangular cavity.

Cold plasma brush generated at atmospheric pressure
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2007A cold plasma brush is generated at atmospheric pressure with low power consumption in the level of several watts (as low as 4W) up to tens of watts (up to 45W). The plasma can be ignited and sustained in both continuous and pulsed modes with different plasma gases such as argon or helium, but argon was selected as a primary gas for use in this work ...

Atmospheric pressure plasma pen for surgical purposes
2016 20th National Biomedical Engineering Meeting (BIYOMUT), 2016Atmospheric pressure cold plasmas are used in sterilization, cutting and coagulation without damaging living tissues and cells. The preliminary studies on the production of the plasma pen which will allow cutting and coagulation at lower temperature than the conventional electrosurgery methods are presented.

A Planar Source of Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Jet
Plasma Physics Reports, 2018In a single-barrier discharge with voltage sharpening and low gas consumption (up to 1 L/min), plane atmospheric pressure plasma jets with a width of up to 3 cm and length of up to 4 cm in air are formed in the slit geometry of the discharge zone. The energy, temperature, and spectral characteristics of the obtained jets have been measured.
