Removing Atmospheric Turbulence via Deep Adversarial Learning

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2022
Restoring images degraded due to atmospheric turbulence is challenging as it consists of several distortions. Several deep learning methods have been proposed to minimize atmospheric distortions that consist of a single-stage deep network.

CNN-Based Restoration of a Single Face Image Degraded by Atmospheric Turbulence

IEEE Transactions on Biometrics Behavior and Identity Science, 2022
Atmospheric turbulence significantly affects imaging systems which use light that has propagated through long atmospheric paths. Images captured under such condition suffer from a combination of geometric deformation and blur.

Atmospheric coherent turbulence

Atmospheric and Oceanic Optics, 2012
This paper summarizes results received by authors for last decade on the problem of the atmospheric coherence turbulence. Also shows some new results of the unpublished researches. According to our data the coherent turbulence is the result of the self-organizing non-linear processes in continuous media, including in the atmospheric air.

Atmospheric turbulence

Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1948
AbstractEvidence which has accumulated shows that the classical theory of atmospheric turbulence which assumes thatKthe coefficient of eddy diffusion is constant with height is inadequate to explain the observed variations of wind and temperature with height.

Restoring atmospheric-turbulence-degraded images

Applied Optics, 2016
Image data experiences geometric distortions and spatial-temporal varying blur due to the strong effects of random spatial and temporal variations in the optical refractive index of the communication path. Simultaneously removing these effects from an image is a challenging task.

In-flight investigations of atmospheric turbulence

Aerospace Science and Technology, 1998
Abstract One of the key technologies in aeronautics offering substantial improvements in the fields of economy and ecology is the laminar flow technology. The sensitivity of the laminar boundary layer flow over aerodynamically smooth surfaces to the effects of disturbances like noise, vibration and insect contamination as well as the atmospheric ...

Atmospheric turbulence mitigation based on turbulence extraction

2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016
A video taken under the influence of atmospheric turbulence suffers from serious distortion caused by the variation of optical refractive index. In order to reduce geometric distortion and time-space-varying blur, and recover both coarse structure and fine details, a novel turbulence extraction based approach for recovering a latent image from an ...
