Enabling Digital Continuity in Virtual Manufacturing for Eco‐Efficiency Assessment of Lightweight Structures by Means of a Domain‐Specific Structural Mechanics Language: Requirements, Idea and Proof of Concept

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a solver‐agnostic domain‐specific language (DSL) for computational structural mechanics that strengthens interoperability in virtual product development. Using a hierarchical data model, the DSL enables seamless exchange between diverse simulation tools and numerical methods.

Impacts of Indo‐Pacific Sea Surface Temperature Versus Internal Atmospheric Variability on the South China Sea Summer Monsoon

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The South China Sea (SCS) summer (i.e., June–August [JJA]) monsoon experiences strong interannual variability, which is modulated by the western North Pacific subtropical high (WNPSH).

Equatorial modes observed in atmospheric variables

open access: yesJournal of Earth System Science, 2009
Wavenumber–frequency spectral analysis of different atmospheric variables has been carried out using 25 years of data. The area considered is the tropical belt 25 ◦ S–25 ◦ N. A combined FFTwavelet analysis method has been used for this purpose. Variables considered are outgoing longwave radiation (OLR), 850 hPa divergence, zonal and meridional winds at

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Copper–Tungsten Composites for Heat Sink Applications in High‐Power Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article demonstrates the successful qualification of a copper–tungsten composite for laser powder bed fusion. The resulting components exhibited high density, high thermal conductivity, and reduced thermal expansion. Heat sinks with complex geometries were successfully manufactured, clearly showcasing the material's potential for additive ...

Transport and Mixing in Planetary Polar Vortices with Annular and Monopolar Potential Vorticity Structures

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Polar vortices are a common feature in the solar system, but their structure varies between planets. Although polar vortices are characterized by a coherent region of high potential vorticity (PV) in the polar regions, the meridional variation of PV ...

Investigating Abiotic Sources of Spectral Variability From Multitemporal Hyperspectral Airborne Acquisitions Over the French Guyana Canopy

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Classifiers trained on airborne hyperspectral imagery are proficient in identifying tree species in hyperdiverse tropical rainforests. However, spectral fluctuations, influenced by intrinsic and environmental factors, such as the heterogeneity of ...

Duplex Stainless Steel Laser‐Surface Textured: Stability in Brine Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐surface treatment (LST) of duplex DSS2205 steel is performed to increase its stability in brine solution under cyclic electrochemical assays. The superior protection with respect to flat and smooth panels is attributed to the presence of FeCr2O4 as the main protective oxide layer in the LST surface, after corrosion tests. The stability

The JWST Weather Report from the Nearest Brown Dwarfs. III. Heterogeneous Clouds and Thermochemical Instabilities as Possible Drivers of WISE 1049AB’s Spectroscopic Variability

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a new analysis of the spectroscopic variability of WISE J104915.57−531906.1AB (WISE 1049AB, L7.5+T0.5), observed using the NIRSpec instrument on board the James Webb Space Telescope (GO 2965; PI: Biller).

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
