Improving the phase response of an atom interferometer by means of temporal pulse shaping

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We study theoretically and experimentally the influence of temporally shaping the light pulses in an atom interferometer, with a focus on the phase response of the interferometer.

Invariance Properties and Measurement of Correlation Between Two Propagating or Evanescent Waves

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work analyses the strength of correlation between two propagating or evanescent plane waves generally expressed in different frames. Interferometric and nanoscattering‐based methods, respectively, are demonstrated for their measurement. The results show that the applied measure of correlation remains invariant under unitary polarization ...

Metasurface‐Enabled Single‐Shot Intensity‐and‐Phase‐Interrogation Surface‐Plasmon‐Resonance Microscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A metasurface‐enabled full‐Stokes polarimeter is integrated with phase‐interrogated surface plasmon resonance microscopy to enable single‐shot recovery of intensity and differential phase. The non‐interferometric platform supports quantitative refractive‐index and thickness mapping, wavelength‐resolved sensing, and dynamic multi‐channel monitoring ...

Dual‐Comb Spectroscopy With Fully Controlled Repetition Rate and Offset Frequency of Quantum Cascade Laser Frequency Combs

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Independent control of the repetition rate and offset frequency is demonstrated in quantum cascade laser frequency combs using radio‐frequency injection and thermal tuning. A revised comb model anchored at optical frequencies captures the unique behavior under radio‐frequency injection and enables precise frequency control.

Nonlocal Leaky Mode Metasurfaces for Mode‐, Angle‐, and Polarization‐Multiplexed Holography With Thermal Light

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Nonlocal leaky mode metasurfaces reconstruct multiplexed holograms directly from unfiltered thermal light. High‐Q leaky guided modes compress broadband halogen emission into narrowband channels, enhancing temporal coherence a hundredfold, while a single nanohole array encodes independent images addressed by mode, angle, and polarization, establishing ...

Particle‐Scale Mechanics of a Regolith‐Type Soil

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The existing studies have reported that the surface of Mars shows the presence of materials having igneous origin, including basalt and regolith‐type coarse soils. These findings are affected by significant uncertainties and, therefore, the selection of simulants for various exploration applications, including surface mobility of rovers ...
