Tunable atom-trapping based on a plasmonic chiral metamaterial
Chiral metamaterials provide a very convenient way to actively regulate the light field via external means, which is very important in nanophotonics.

Magnetic-film atom chip with 10 $\mu$m period lattices of microtraps for quantum information science with Rydberg atoms [PDF]
We describe the fabrication and construction of a setup for creating lattices of magnetic microtraps for ultracold atoms on an atom chip. The lattice is defined by lithographic patterning of a permanent magnetic film.

Dense atom clouds in a holographic atom trap [PDF]
We demonstrate the production of high density cold atom samples (2e14 atoms/cc) in a simple optical lattice formed with YAG light that is diffracted from a holographic phase plate. A loading protocol is described that results in 10,000 atoms per lattice site. Rapid free evaporation leads to phase space densities of 1/150 within 50 msec.

Tracking Evaporative Cooling of a Mesoscopic Atomic Quantum Gas in Real Time
The fluctuations in thermodynamic and transport properties in many-body systems gain importance as the number of constituent particles is reduced. Ultracold atomic gases provide a clean setting for the study of mesoscopic systems; however, the detection ...

Magneto-Optical Traps for Cold Atomic Gravimetry: Research Status and Development Trends
The cold atomic gravimeter (CAG) has the advantage of high measurement accuracy and does not need to be calibrated on a regular basis. To achieve cold atom interference, it is first necessary to cool and trap the atoms by magneto-optical trap (MOT ...

Collective Two-Atom Effects and Trapping States in the Micromaser [PDF]
We investigate signals of trapping states in the micromaser system in terms of the average number of cavity photons as well as a suitably defined correlation length of atoms leaving the cavity.
