Energy partitioning for “fuzzy” atoms [PDF]
The total energy of a molecule is presented as a sum of one- and two-atomic energy components in terms of “fuzzy” atoms, i.e., such divisions of the three-dimensional physical space into atomic regions in which the regions assigned to the individual atoms have no sharp boundaries but exhibit a continuous transition from one to another.

Progress in Chlorination and Dissolution Technology of Oxides of Uranium and Plutonium
The dissolution process of oxides is a key step in the pyrochemical process of spent oxide fuel by electrolyzing in molten salt. The dissolved products will provide feeds for subsequent separation and recovery of U and Pu.

First-principles calculations of the diffusion of atomic oxygen in nickel: thermal expansion contribution [PDF]
Within the framework of density functional theory using the projector augmented-wave (PAW) method, we present some energetic properties of atomic oxygen interstitials in crystalline Ni, i.e.

Evaluation of important phenomena through the PIRT process for a sodium fire event
Sodium fire is one of key issues in sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) plants. JAEA has developed sodium fire analysis codes, a zone model code SPHINCS and a field model code AQUA-SF, to evaluate the consequence of sodium fire events.

Extraction of Uranium From Alkali Residue With Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Fluid
Alkali residue was dissolved by the ammonium hydrogen fluoride method, in which the uranium content is determined to be (16.7±0.3)%(n=6) by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-AES).

Sudden To Adiabatic Transition in Beta Decay [PDF]
We discuss effects in beta decays at very low beta energies, of the order of the kinetic energies of atomic electrons. As the beta energy is lowered the atomic response changes from sudden to adiabatic.
