EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Comprehensive study of photon and proton interactions to interpret the radiation parameters of boron derivative drugs for chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences
For chemoradiotherapy applications, this work investigated the photon and proton interaction parameters in five boron-based medications: sodium borocaptate, bortezomib, delanzomib, boronophenylalanine, and boric acid. Photon interaction parameters such

Characteristic frequency and atomic number [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical and Physical Character, 1917
Recent work on the specific heat of chemical elements in the solid state has led to important conclusions with regard to the values of the atomic heat at constant volume. The curves showing the variation of atomic heat with temperature are all of the same form, and any given curve can be transformed into any other merely by altering the ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...
