The Dependence of X-Ray Attenuation Parameters of (Al, Cu, And Zr) Metals on their Atomic Number [PDF]

open access: diamondJournal of Studies in Science and Engineering, 2023
This paper studied X-ray attenuation in metals (Al-13, Cu-29, Zr-40). X-ray energy of 17 keV of kα line of molybdenum was directed to metal bars with 0.05 cm thickness.

Definitive number of atoms on demand: Controlling the number of atoms in a few-atom magneto-optical trap [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2006
A few Rb85 atoms were trapped in a micron-size magneto-optical trap with a high quadrupole magnetic-field gradient and the number of atoms was precisely controlled by suppressing stochastic loading and loss events via real-time feedback on the magnetic-field gradient. The measured occupation probability of a single atom was as high as 99%.

Atomic number fluctuations in a falling cold atom cloud [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum and Semiclassical Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part B, 1996
We evaluate the effective number of atoms in experiments where a probe laser beam with a Gaussian profile passes through an atomic medium consisting of a cold atom cloud released from a magneto-optical trap. Considering the case where the initial distribution is a Gaussian function of position and velocity, we give a quantitative description of the ...

Effect of Atomic Number on Plasma Pinch Properties and Radiative Emissions

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2021
The aim of the research is to examine the dependence of plasma pinch properties and radiation emissions on the atomic number of the operating gas within the dense plasma focus device (NX2) when using hydrogen and argon gases.

Preparing and Probing Atomic Number States with an Atom Interferometer [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2007
We describe the controlled loading and measurement of number-squeezed states and Poisson states of atoms in individual sites of a double well optical lattice. These states are input to an atom interferometer that is realized by symmetrically splitting individual lattice sites into double wells, allowing atoms in individual sites to evolve independently.

An investigation of the nuclear shielding effectiveness of some transparent glasses manufactured from natural quartz doped lead cations

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
The influence of lead cations on natural quartz (QZ) from Egypt as a glass shielding material for the composition with nominal formula (10Na2O - (90 - x) QZ – xPbO (where x = 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 mol %)) was examined. The studied samples are synthesized
