Atomic Fisher information versus atomic number

Physics Letters A, 2006
It is shown that the Thomas-Fermi Fisher information is negative. A slightly more sophisticated model proposed by Gaspar provides a qualitatively correct expression for the Fisher information: Gaspar's Fisher information is proportional to the two-third power of the atomic number.

Calculations of effective atomic number

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2007
We will present and discuss effective atomic number (Zeff) obtained by different methods of calculations. There is no unique relation between computed values. This observation led us to the conclusion that any Zeff is valid only for given process. We will compare Zeff obtained by following methods: 1. Variational method (Slater), 2.

Photon-number measurements with cold atoms

Physical Review A, 1993
We consider the motion of a «slow» atom through a single-mode quantifid radiation field; for example, a high-Q microwave cavity. It is shown that under some circumstances different photon-number states may be resolved by observation of the atomic passage time. Moreover, measurement of one or more passage times may prepare a photon-number state that can

Complexity of Dirac–Fock atom increases with atomic number

Chemical Physics Letters, 2007
Abstract Using the Dirac–Fock relativistic wave functions in the position space the shape complexity, C LMC s , form of the statistical complexity measure due to Lopez-Ruiz, Mancini, and Calbet and the simple two parameter complexity measure, Γα,β, proposed by Shiner, Davison and Landsberg for atoms H–Lr are calculated.

The number of atoms in a primefree atomic domain

Communications in Algebra, 2017
ABSTRACTWe study the number of atoms and maximal ideals in an atomic domain with finitely many atoms and no prime elements. We show in particular that for all m,n∈ℤ+ with n≥3 and 4≤m≤n3 there is an atomic domain with precisely n atoms, precisely m maximal ideals and no prime elements.

An element of atomic number zero?

New Journal of Chemistry, 2016
The element zero or “neutronium” was a suggestion proposed by the German chemist Andreas von Antropoff in 1925. Can it really be thought of as an element at the present time?

High Atom Number in Microsized Atom Traps

2015
Abstract : Research was performed, investigating bichromatic laser forces for implementing a small-footprint, large-number atom-chip instrument. Bichromatic forces rely on absorption and stimulated emission to produce forces on the order of (hbar)(k) (Omega), where Omega is the laser Rabi frequency. We have observed behavior compatible with bichromatic
