Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Asymmetric enzyme kinetics of F_{1}-ATPase induced by rotation-assisted substrate binding

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We demonstrate asymmetric enzyme kinetics of a biomolecular motor F_{1}-ATPase between synthesis and hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Our experiments show that ATP hydrolysis follows Michaelis-Menten kinetics, but ATP synthesis, which is an F_{

Emodin triggers DNA double-strand breaks by stabilizing topoisomerase II-DNA cleavage complexes and by inhibiting ATP hydrolysis of topoisomerase II.

open access: yesToxicological Sciences, 2010
Emodin, an anthraquinone derived from a plant and fungi, has been reported to possess potential genotoxicity, but the mechanism is not entirely clear.

Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

ATP synthase in slow- and fast-growing mycobacteria is active in ATP synthesis and blocked in ATP hydrolysis direction.

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 2010
ATP synthase is a validated drug target for the treatment of tuberculosis, and ATP synthase inhibitors are promising candidate drugs for the treatment of infections caused by other slow-growing mycobacteria, such as Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium

Detachment, Futile Cycling and Nucleotide Pocket Collapse in Myosin-V Stepping

open access: yes, 2015
Myosin-V is a highly processive dimeric protein that walks with 36nm steps along actin tracks, powered by coordinated ATP hydrolysis reactions in the two myosin heads.

Understanding the Chemical and Electronic Properties of Sub‐Monolayer TiO2 on High Surface Area Silica for Jet Fuel Synthesis Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sub‐monolayer titania grafted onto mesoporous silica enables solvent‐free photocatalytic upgrading of furfural and cyclopentanone into jet fuel precursors. Advanced spectroscopic methods reveal tunable surface speciation, acidity, and bandgaps, enhancing catalytic efficiency.
