Vogtnema asymmetrica n. gen., n. sp. (Nematoda: Cosmocercoidea: Atractidae) parasite of Rhinoclemmys punctularia (Daudin) (Testudines: Geoemydidae) from eastern Amazon, Brazil

Systematic Parasitology, 2022
Nematodes collected from the stomach and large intestine of Rhinoclemmys punctularia (Daudin) from the eastern Amazon, Brazil, are assigned to a new genus, Vogtnema n. gen., allocated in the family Atractidae (Cosmocerdoidea). Vogtnema n. gen. differs from all other genera of Atractidae based on the combination of the following morphological characters:

A new species of Orientatractis (Nematoda: Atractidae) from the tortoise Indotestudo elongata (Blyth) in China

Acta Parasitologica, 2018
AbstractA new species of nematode,Orientatractis longicaudatan. sp. is described from the intestine ofIndotestudo elongata(Blyth) (Testudinidae) from Zoo of Tianjin, Tianjin, China. The new species can be easily distinguished from its congers by having longer tail, by the length of gubernaculum and left spicule, and by the numbers of caudal papillae ...

Morphometric and molecular characteristics of Labeonema synodontisi n. comb. (Nematoda: Atractidae) from the West African fishes

Parasitology Research, 2008
Numerous nematodes were found in the rectum of three fish species Synodontis ocellifer, S. nigrita, and S. schall (Mochokidae, Siluriformes) from the Gambia River and Mare Simenti, National Park Niokolo Koba, Senegal. A nematode species Raillietnema synodontisi Vassiliadès, 1973 (host S. ocellifer), is redescribed using morphometric (including scanning

Transmission, Host Specificity, and Seasonal Occurrence ofCyrtosomum penneri(Nematoda: Atractidae) in Lizards from Florida

Journal of Parasitology, 2013
Experimental infections and field-collected lizards were used to investigate issues of transmission, host specificity, and seasonal occurrence in the nematode Cyrtosomum penneri (Cosmocercoidea: Atractidae). Anolis sagrei (87 males, 42 females) were captured from the Florida Southern College campus, Polk County, Florida, from October 2010 to September ...

Systematic Parasitology, 2015
Based on light and scanning electron microscopical studies, two new species of nematode parasites are described from freshwater fishes in Thailand: Orientatractis mekongensis n. sp. (Atractidae) from the intestine of Pangasius bocourti Sauvage (type-host) and Helicophagus leptorhynchus Ng & Kottelat (both Pangasiidae, Siluriformes), and Neosynodontisia

Two nematodes, Paratractis hystrix (Diesing, 1851) and Buckleyatractis marinkelli n. g., n. sp. (Atractidae: Cosmocercoidea) from Podocnemis spp. in Colombia

Systematic Parasitology, 1988
Two atractid nematodes are reported from the large intestine of freshwater turtles of the genus Podocnemis in Colombia. Paratractis hystrix (Diesing, 1851) is redescribed in detail using the scanning electron microscope and is reported from P. expansa, P. vogli and P. unifillis, the last being a new host. Buckleyatractis marinkelli n. g., n. sp. from P.

TWO NEW NEMATODE SPECIES, ORIENTATRACTIS CAMPECHENSIS N. SP. AND ORIENTATRACTIS CHIAPASENSIS N. SP. (NEMATODA: ATRACTIDAE) FROM CICHLID FISHES IN SOUTHERN MEXICO AND NICARAGUA

Journal of Parasitology, 2004
Two new nematode species, Orientatractis campechensis n. sp. and Orientatractis chiapasensis n. sp. (Atractidae, Cosmocercoidea), are described from the intestine of cichlid fishes collected in localities of southeastern Mexico and Nicaragua. Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1982
Raillietnema spectans Gomes, 1964 (Cosmocercinae) from Bufo paracnemis of Brazil is redescribed. The cephalic, oesophageal, and male caudal structures of this species are strikingly similar to Schrankiana freitasi n. sp.
