- LAA Occluder View for post-implantation Evaluation (LOVE) - standardized imaging proposal evaluating implanted left atrial appendage occlusion devices by cardiac computed tomography [PDF]
Background: A standardized imaging proposal evaluating implanted left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion devices by cardiac computed tomography angiography (cCTA) has never been investigated.

Abstract Autonomic nerves are crucial in cardiac function and pathology. However, data on the distribution of cholinergic and noradrenergic nerves in normal and pathologic human hearts is lacking. Nonfailing donor hearts were pressure‐perfusion fixed, imaged, and dissected. Left ventricular cardiomyopathy samples were also obtained.

Right atrial appendage thrombus with atrial infarct in a case of thyrotoxicosis: An autopsy report
Cardiac function has long been known to be altered in patients with thyrotoxicosis and atrial fibrillation occurs in patients with hyperthyroidism. In addition to its disabling symptoms, atrial fibrillation is a strong risk factor for systemic embolism ...

Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with an increased risk of stroke and thromboembolic complications. A rhythm control strategy with both electrical and pharmacological cardioversion is recommended for patients ...

ABSTRACT Background Drug‐coated balloons (DCBs) for femoropopliteal (FP) lesions have demonstrated superiority over standard percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) in maintaining vessel patency. However, data on whether the good durability of DCBs translates into improved wound outcome in chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) patients are ...

Role of CT imaging in left atrial appendage occlusion for the WATCHMAN™ device.
Computed tomography (CT) plays a key role in the peri-procedural planning of left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) device placement and post-procedural evaluation.

Heterotaxy and isomerism of the atrial appendages☆ [PDF]
Several of the assertions made by Serraf and colleagues [1], when describing heterotaxy syndrome, should be questioned. The syndrome is, indeed, a disorder that involves ‘abnormal lateralization of the abdominal viscera, thoracic organs and cardiac atria’; but this definition would include patients having so-called ‘situs inversus’. In support of their

Computational Fluid Dynamic Analysis of the Left Atrial Appendage to Predict Thrombosis Risk [PDF]
During Atrial Fibrillation (AF) more than 90% of the left atrial thrombi responsible for thromboembolic events originate in the left atrial appendage (LAA), a complex small sac protruding from the left atrium (LA). Current available treatments to prevent

ABSTRACT Rationale Longer duration of epilepsy before surgery is a predictor of poor outcome. While referral delays of surgical candidates are well documented, factors causing delay during the presurgical evaluation remain unclear and may vary depending on institutional characteristics.

Introduction We described a rare case of an adolescent girl with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation originating from the right atrial appendage diverticulum and successfully converted to sinus rhythm after surgical intervention.
