Physical activity and incidence of atrial fibrillation: A systematic review and meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Whether physical activity increases or decreases the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) remains controversial. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the relationship between AF and extent of physical activity.

A clinical case of hemangioma of the face and tongue concurrent with severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome complicated by cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disturbances [PDF]

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2016
The paper describes a clinical case of a female patient with severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in the presence of congenital hemangioma of the face, soft palate, and tongue concurrent with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter ...

Probabilistic Prediction of Coalescence Flutter Using Measurements: Application to the Flutter Margin Method [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Zimmerman and Weissenburger's flutter margin method is widely used to estimate the aeroelastic coalescence flutter speed. In contrast to aeroelastic decay rates, the flutter margin exhibits monotonic decay with respect to airspeed redering it effective in extrapolating the flutter speed using flight test data conducted at pre-flutter airspeeds.

Electrocardiographic patch devices and contemporary wireless cardiac monitoring. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cardiac electrophysiologic derangements often coexist with disorders of the circulatory system. Capturing and diagnosing arrhythmias and conduction system disease may lead to a change in diagnosis, clinical management and patient outcomes.

Atrial Flutter, Typical and Atypical: A Review.

open access: yesArrhythmia & Electrophysiology Review, 2017
Clinical electrophysiology has made the traditional classification of rapid atrial rhythms into flutter and tachycardia of little clinical use. Electrophysiological studies have defined multiple mechanisms of tachycardia, both re-entrant and focal, with ...

Acute cardiovascular effects associated with the use of prescription medications: A Danish nationwide screening study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim This study aims to conduct a hypothesis‐generating screening for acute cardiovascular effects of prescription medications. Methods This Danish nationwide screening study was conducted among incident cases of cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial infarction (MI), ischemic stroke (IS), heart failure (HF), venous thromboembolism (VTE),

Is transfusion in coronary artery surgery a predictor or a cause of reduced long-term survival? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background Transfusion is common after coronary bypass surgery. Transfused patients present with higher operative risk and an increased hazard ratio for curtailed long-term survival. There is debate as to whether transfusion itself may further exacerbate

The effects of rhythm control strategies versus rate control strategies for atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter: A systematic review with meta-analysis and Trial Sequential Analysis

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Background Atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter may be managed by either a rhythm control strategy or a rate control strategy but the evidence on the clinical effects of these two intervention strategies is unclear.

X‐linked ichthyosis: New insights into a multi‐system disorder

open access: yesSkin Health and Disease, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
X‐linked ichthyosis is a rare genetic skin condition. We discuss here how it is also associated with multiple medical conditions which may impact affected individuals' education, quality of life and mortality. Awareness and understanding of these comorbidities will be important for ensuring the best multidisplinary care for individuals with XLI ...

JAS-GAN: Generative Adversarial Network Based Joint Atrium and Scar Segmentations on Unbalanced Atrial Targets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Automated and accurate segmentations of left atrium (LA) and atrial scars from late gadolinium-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (LGE CMR) images are in high demand for quantifying atrial scars. The previous quantification of atrial scars relies on a two-phase segmentation for LA and atrial scars due to their large volume difference (unbalanced ...
