Resolution of Levodopa/Dopa‐Decarboxylase Inhibitor—Associated Microscopic Colitis with Subcutaneous Foslevodopa/Foscarbidopa: A Case Series and Review of the Literature

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Microscopic colitis (MC) typically presents with chronic, non‐bloody watery diarrhea. Diagnosis requires endoscopy with colonic mucosal biopsies. The etiology is multifactorial, with several medications implicated, although only a few cases have been attributed to oral levodopa/dopa‐decarboxylase inhibitor (LDDCI) therapy.

Mechanisms of atrial flutter following epicardial high intensity focused ultrasound left atrial ablative procedures during concomitant cardiac surgery

open access: yesThe Egyptian Heart Journal, 2014
Introduction: Iatrogenic atrial tachyarrhythmias have increased with the widespread application of left atrial ablative procedures to treat atrial fibrillation. Methods and results: Entrainment and activation mapping were utilized to study the mechanisms

Sex‐based differences in outcomes between male and female patients with bicuspid aortic stenosis following transcatheter aortic valve replacement: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesPrecision Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
Central illustration: Sex‐based differences in outcomes between male and female patients with bicuspid aortic stenosis following transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Abstract Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is a common congenital anomaly leading to early aortic stenosis.

A novel approach to terminate roof-dependent atrial flutter with epicardial conduction through septopulmonary bundle

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Atrial flutter, a prevalent cardiac arrhythmia, is primarily characterized by reentrant circuits in the right atrium. However, atypical forms of atrial flutter present distinct challenges in terms of diagnosis and treatment.

Arrhythmia Classification from the Abductive Interpretation of Short Single-Lead ECG Records

open access: yes, 2017
In this work we propose a new method for the rhythm classification of short single-lead ECG records, using a set of high-level and clinically meaningful features provided by the abductive interpretation of the records.

Hederagenin Attenuates Cardiac Remodeling by Targeting Phosphodiesterase 9A

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim New therapeutic strategies for heart failure are urgently needed. The protective effects of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)—protein kinase G (PKG) pathway on heart have been widely reported. Despite phosphodiesterase 9A (PDE9A) inhibitors combating cardiac remodeling, clinically available drugs are lacking. Hederagenin

Atrial flutter ablation in a case of diuretic resistant constrictive pericarditis

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2015
We present a 66 year old gentleman with constrictive pericarditis and persistent atrial flutter. Initial management with oral loop diuretics was successful until he developed persistent atrial flutter.

Electrocardiographic patch devices and contemporary wireless cardiac monitoring. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cardiac electrophysiologic derangements often coexist with disorders of the circulatory system. Capturing and diagnosing arrhythmias and conduction system disease may lead to a change in diagnosis, clinical management and patient outcomes.

How to facilitate ultrasound examination of the fetal heart: the 5‐4‐3‐2‐1 method

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a new standardized, systematic method of fetal cardiac screening, the step‐by‐step ‘5‐4‐3‐2‐1’ method. This method is based on understanding the cardiac structures through a process of navigating between the different recommended views during an abdominothoracic sweep, following a user‐friendly checklist to identify the main ...

Catheter ablation of typical right atrial flutter in a 20‐day‐old neonate with tachycardiomyopathy

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia
Background Fetal echocardiography can diagnose neonatal atrial flutter, which can cause heart failure in newborns. Little is known about catheter ablation in this population.
