Intravenous Lobular Capillary Hemangioma in the Renal Vein Mimicking Renal Cancer
ABSTRACT Introduction Lobular capillary hemangioma is a benign tumor that commonly occurs in the skin and mucous membranes. A lobular capillary hemangioma that occurs within blood vessels is called intravenous lobular capillary hemangioma. In this report, we report the fifth case of intravenous lobular capillary hemangioma originating from a renal ...

ABSTRACT Background Papillary muscle infarction (PMI) has been linked to significantly increased mortality and is associated with ventricular arrhythmias and mitral regurgitation. Reference bright‐blood late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) imaging provides poor scar‐to‐blood contrast, making PMI visualization challenging. Black‐blood LGE imaging overcomes

Abstract Abnormalities in the heart's rhythm, known as arrhythmias, pose a significant threat to global health, often leading to severe cardiac conditions and sudden cardiac deaths. Therefore, early and accurate detection of arrhythmias is crucial for timely intervention and potentially life‐saving treatment.

Summary Introduction Unplanned hospital readmissions after surgery are substantial drivers of expenditure and bed occupancy within the healthcare system. As a result, any targeted interventions that reduce readmission in this population can have a significant impact on patient well‐being and the health budget. Methods We performed a large retrospective

Atrial Fibrillation and Hyperthyroidism [PDF]
Atrial fibrillation occurs in 10 – 15% of patients with hyperthyroidism. Low serum thyrotropin concentration is an independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation. Thyroid hormone contributes to arrythmogenic activity by altering the electrophysiological

Outcomes of type A aortic dissection in Australia
Mortality outcomes for type A aortic dissection in Australia have improved over time, stabilizing at 18% over the last 5 years. Units performing fewer operations for type A dissection showed equivalent mortality outcomes to high‐volume units. Abstract Introduction Without surgical intervention, type A aortic dissection (TAAD) carries a high risk of ...

A reduced ankle‐brachial index (ABI) and an elevated pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) are surrogate markers of cardiovascular risk. In this prospective observational cohort study on over 1000 acutely ill emergency department patients, an ABI <1.00 and a cfPWV ≥10.0 m/s were independently related to short‐ and long‐term survival.

Influence of Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia Ablation on Right to Left Inter-atrial Conduction [PDF]
Background: Radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation is the procedure of choice for the potential cure of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) with high success rates.
