Atrial natriuretic peptide in the heart and pancreas.
We used antisera to pure atrial natriuretic peptide to localise this peptide by immunocytochemistry in rat and human tissue. We showed that both rat and human atrial cardiocytes gave a positive reaction while ventricular cardiocytes were consistently negative. Peripheral islet cells in rat but not in human pancreas also showed positive staining for ANP.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to evaluate the utility of left atrial volume and function in uraemic patients using four‐dimensional automatic left atrial quantification (4D auto LAQ) technology. Methods Thirty‐four undialysed uraemic patients (U‐ND group), 60 dialysed uraemic patients (U‐D group), and 32 healthy volunteers (N group) were enrolled

N-terminal Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide And Atrial Fibrillation
NT-proBNP is produced from both atria and ventricles. The primary regulation of production is at the synthesis level. The plasma half-life of NT-proBNP is 60-120 min.

Disturbances of sodium in critically ill adult neurologic patients: A clinical review [PDF]
Disorders of sodium and water balance are common in critically ill adult neurologic patients. Normal aspects of sodium and water regulation are reviewed. The etiology of possible causes of sodium disturbance is discussed in both the general inpatient and

Abstract Aims Amyloid cardiomyopathy is caused by the deposition of light chain (AL) or transthyretin amyloid (ATTR) fibrils, that leads to a restrictive cardiomyopathy, often resulting in heart failure (HF) with preserved or reduced ejection fraction.

Brain natriuretic peptide and NT-proBNP levels reflect pulmonary artery systolic pressure in trekkers at high altitude. [PDF]
Our objective was to evaluate the utility of the natriuretic peptides BNP (brain natriuretic peptide) and NT-proBNP as markers of pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) in trekkers ascending to high altitude (HA). 20 participants had BNP and NT-proBNP
