Platelet aggregation and atrial natriuretic peptide

General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 1995
1. Isolated human platelets were used to investigate the effect of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) on in vitro platelet aggregation induced by epinephrine, ADP, collagen and 5-hydroxytryptamine. As a direct stimulant of particulate guanylate cyclase, ANP is known to have no direct effect on platelets which contain soluble guanylate cyclase. 2.

Atrial Natriuretic Peptide in Dumping Syndrome

Digestion, 1993
The significance of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) was investigated in the maintenance of the fluid volume in hypovolemia associated with dumping syndrome following gastric resection. The study was performed on 10 patients with Billroth II procedure. Ten age and sex matched patients--without previous gastric surgery served as controls.

Atrial natriuretic peptide in hypoxia

Peptides, 2005
A growing number of mammalian genes whose expression is inducible by hypoxia have been identified. Among them, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) synthesis and secretion is increased during hypoxic exposure and plays an important role in the normal adaptation to hypoxia and in the pathogenesis of cardiopulmonary diseases, including chronic hypoxia ...

Atrial Natriuretic Peptide in Renal Transplantation [PDF]

open access: possibleHormone Research, 1996
Factors related to atrial natriuretic peptide (alpha-ANP) regulation and its potential impact on excretory transplant function were examined in a prospective cohort study of 20 patients with end-stage renal disease over 21 days after allogenic kidney transplantation.

Atrial Natriuretic Peptides [PDF]

open access: possible, 1995
In 1981 de Bold and colleagues demonstrated that the injection of atrial, but not ventricular, extract into rats caused a natriuresis and diuresis [1]. It is now known that this extract contained a peptide, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) or atrial natriuretic factor, which is one of a family of hormones known to have an important role in salt and ...

The atrial natriuretic peptide: a changing view

Journal of Hypertension, 2001
The atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), a component of the natriuretic peptide family, was discovered in 1981 when de Bold and his coworkers observed a natriuretic effect induced by infusion of atrial extracts in rats. Subsequently, an impressive amount of research has been carried out in order to identify the structure of the active peptide and its ...

Atrial natriuretic peptides and renin release

The American Journal of Medicine, 1988
The relationship between endogenous plasma concentrations of atrial natriuretic peptide and renin was examined in resting normal subjects and patients with cardiac impairment. To test the hypothesis that atrial natriuretic peptide inhibits renin secretion, intravenous infusions of atrial natriuretic peptide were administered to normal volunteers ...

Atrial natriuretic peptide in Cushing’s disease

Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1990
Atrial Natriuretic Peptide (ANF), is secreted by atrial myocytes in response to atrial stretch. Its plasma levels have been found elevated in conditions leading to salt and fluid repletion and consequent atrial distention. Recently, it has been demonstrated that dexamethasone can enhance ANF secretion, by acting on ANF gene expression and mRNA ...

Atrial Natriuretic Peptide in Infants and Children

Hormone Research, 1987
Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) was measured in the plasma of 192 normal infants and children aged 1 day to 18 years. Plasma ANP was high during postnatal adaptation, particularly in premature infants. In 96 infants and children aged 4 months to 18 years, plasma ANP was similar to values obtained in 7 healthy adult volunteers (23.9 +/- 11.9 vs. 25.7 +/

Atrial Natriuretic Peptide in the Preterm Newborn

Neonatology, 1994
Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), plasma renin and renin substrate concentrations (PRC and PRS) were measured in 31 preterm infants with idiopathic respiratory distress syndrome. Infants were studied at a mean of 1.4 days; 17 infants were also studied 2 days later.
