New Perspectives Provided by Merging Computed Tomographic Scanning and Electroanatomical Mapping of Koch’s Pyramid

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
Background: Atrioventricular (AV) nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is strongly related to the anatomy and physiology of the AV nodal and junctional area.

Clinical Characteristics and Timing of Accessory Pathway Reconduction During Catheter Ablation of Accessory Pathways

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Intra‐procedural accessory pathway reconduction occurred in 18% of patients, with 65.2% of events detected ≥ 15 min after initial pathway elimination. Reconduction was associated with a higher rate of late recurrence, supporting careful assessment for conduction recovery during the post‐ablation waiting period.

Small Discrete Pre‐Potential‐Like Electrogram Recorded by a Lattice‐Tip Catheter at the Initiation of Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
At the origin of the non‐PV trigger, a small discrete pre‐potential‐like electrogram was recorded using a lattice‐tip catheter after 5‐mm catheter repositioning, preceding the potential at the previous site by 56 ms.

Twisted atrioventricular connections in double inlet right ventricle: evaluation by magnetic resonance imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Twisted atrioventricular connections occur almost exclusively in the hearts with biventricular atrioventricular connections. Only one example of double inlet left ventricle has been illustrated in which the axes of the two atrioventricular valves crossed

Vagal Response and Cough Reflex During Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Under Deep Sedation: A Comparison Across Pulsed Field Ablation Systems

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Cough reflex during pulsed field ablation was most frequent with PULSESELECT, while vagal response did not differ significantly among platforms. These device‐specific reflex profiles may guide sedation strategy and procedural preparedness. ABSTRACT Background Pulsed field ablation (PFA) is increasingly used for atrial fibrillation (AF), but device ...

Radiotherapy‐Induced Side Effects: Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, Prevention and Treatments

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Radiotherapy for malignancies frequently injures the organs’ systems through oxidative stress, fibrosis, inflammation, and vascular damage. This review systematically maps the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and emerging therapies to propose a mechanism‑network‑targeted framework for integrated, personalized care in radiation oncology.

Anaesthetic Techniques for Cardiac Ablation—A Scoping Review

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 9, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation, have rising prevalence and represent a growing global health burden. Catheter ablation is a commonly used treatment demanding sedation or anaesthesia for comfort, stability and safety. Anaesthetic techniques vary globally, and the optimal strategy has yet to be determined.

Exercise and Autonomic Cardiovascular Function—Insights From Spinal Cord‐Injured Humans: A Narrative Review

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The cardiovascular response to acute exercise is mediated by the autonomic nervous system (ANS) control mechanisms that modulate vascular resistance to support blood pressure and ensure adequate blood flow to active muscles. These autonomic neurocirculatory control mechanisms include a feedforward mechanism, known as central command, and three

Atrioventricular node ablation in langendorff-perfused porcine hearts using carbon ion particle therapy

open access: yes, 2015
Particle therapy, with heavy ions such as carbon-12 (12 C), delivered to arrhythmogenic locations of the heart could be a promising new means for catheter-free ablation. As a first investigation, we tested the feasibility of in vivo atrioventricular node

Impact of Coronary Dominance on Atrioventricular Node Ablation Approach

open access: yes
Persistent atrial fibrillation often requires atrioventricular node (AVN) ablation when conventional rhythm - or rate-control strategies are unsucessful, but procedural outcomes may be influenced by anatomic variability.
