Surgical Anatomy of the Atrophic Maxilla
2023Advanced maxillary atrophy is one of the most common clinical scenarios in which implant placement could become difficult. Unfortunately, a considerable number of patients show a condition of severe maxillary atrophy with an advanced loss of bone due to previous dental extractions or natural atrophy of the edentulous maxilla. Nevertheless, a volumetric

Augmentation of the atrophic edentulous maxilla with hydroxylapatite
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1990A technique for augmentation of the severely atrophic edentulous maxilla is presented. This technique combines the mobilization of the available soft tissue of the labial vestibule with a subperiosteal reflection and "filleting" of the redundant crestal soft tissue to create ample space to accommodate the insertion of the desired amount of ...

The hollow denture: An alternative treatment for atrophic maxillae
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1988This technique is an adaptation of the double-flask technique that is well-known for the fabrication of the hollow bulb portion of a maxillary obturator. It can be used only for patients with both an atrophic maxillary alveolar ridge and a greater than usual interocclusal distance. Anything less will not permit fabrication of a hollow denture.

Reconstruction of an atrophic maxilla: comparison of two methods
British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2011We have evaluated the survival of dental implants in extremely atrophic edentulous maxillas after autogenous bone grafting. We compared two techniques: the Le Fort I down-grafting procedure and conventional raising of the sinus floor with onlay bone grafting.

Position of the teeth on the edentulous atrophic maxilla
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2001SUMMARY For prosthetic treatment of strongly atrophic alveolar wall, some biometric methods have been developed. The measurements taken from plaster cast models of 230 edentulous, average 29·9 years, and 125 dentulous post‐menopausal women were correlated.

Rehabilitation of the atrophic edentulous maxilla by bone grafting
The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1975Transoral bone grafting is a useful method for the reconstruction of the atrophic maxillary residual ridge in patients who cannot retain complete dentures. The indications, criteria for patient selection, and the technique used have been presented.
