Catching the Wave: An Exploration of Posterior Pharyngeal Wall Movement in Healthy Swallowing

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective(s) Serial pharyngeal constrictor muscle contraction during swallowing can be seen fluoroscopically as a wave of posterior pharyngeal wall (PPW) movement. We characterized PPW thickness at rest and during swallowing at three anatomical levels (C2, C3, C4), accounting for effects of sex, age, and task.

Novel Variants in KMT2C Further Support a Neurodevelopmental Disorder Distinct From Kleefstra and Kabuki Syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Sedlackova et al. describe detailed phenotypes of three patients with novel variants in the KMT2C gene. After detailed phenotypic analysis, we found that our patients have phenotypes very similar to those previously described as KMT2C‐related Kleefstra syndrome 2, and thus further extend the list of KMT2C causal variants.

Clinical and Radiographic Outcomes of Customized Titanium Mesh vs. Screw Tent‐Pole Grafting: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesClinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, Volume 28, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is a predictable approach for managing severe alveolar ridge deficiencies prior to implant placement. Resorbable collagen membranes supported by tenting screws are widely used, although space maintenance in non‐contained defects may be challenging.
