ATRP Grafting from Gel Coated Microspheres

open access: yes, 2004
Swellable microspheres prepared by the precipitation polymerisation of divinylbenzene-80 (DVB-80) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), in a solvent mixture of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and heptane, were functionalised with 2bromopropionyl bromide ...

Cobalt‐Doped Diamond‐Like Carbon Coatings Combined With Functionalised Polymers for Enhanced Tribological Performance

open access: yesLubrication Science, Volume 38, Issue 4, Page 191-197, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, doped diamond‐like carbon (DLC) coatings combined with functionalised copolymers have gained attention as a lubrication concept. While silicon‐doped DLC has been widely studied, polymer‐assisted lubrication on other doped DLC systems remains less explored.

Modulation of Surface-Initiated ATRP by Confinement: Mechanism and Applications

open access: yesMacromolecules, 2017
The mechanism of surface-initiated atom transfer polymerization (SI-ATRP) of methacrylates in confined volumes is systematically investigated by finely tuning the distance between a grafting surface and an inert plane by means of nanosized patterns and ...

Dual Knockout Models of the Spatially and Functionally Conserved rgra and rgrb Zebrafish Genes Reveal the Requirement of RGR for the Integrity of Cone‐Mediated Photopic Vision, the Photopic Visual Cycle and Bruch's Membrane Morphology

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 10, 31 May 2026.
This study investigates the role of the vision gene RGR using novel dual knockout zebrafish models. The loss of rgra and rgrb results in zebrafish larvae having reduced visual function and altered retinoid profiles under light but not dark conditions. The OKR phenotype is enhanced under higher light intensities.

How are Radicals (Re)Generated in Photochemical ATRP?

open access: yes, 2016
The polymerization mechanism of photochemically mediated Cu-based atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) was investigated using both experimental and kinetic modeling techniques. There are several distinct pathways that can lead to photochemical (re)

Highly efficient dual photoredox/copper catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization achieved through mechanism-driven photocatalyst design

open access: yesNature Communications
Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) with dual photoredox/copper catalysis combines the advantages of photo-ATRP and photoredox-mediated ATRP, utilizing visible light and ensuring broad monomer scope and solvent compatibility while minimizing side

Contribution of Photochemistry to Activator Regeneration in ATRP

open access: yes, 2016
With the recent interest in photochemically mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), an interesting question arises: how significant are the photochemical processes in ATRP reactions that are supposed to be chemically controlled, such as ...

ATRP-based synthesis and characterization of light-responsive coatings for transdermal delivery systems

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2015
The grafting of poly(hydroxyethylmethacrylate) on polymeric porous membranes via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and subsequent modification with a photo-responsive spiropyran derivative is described.

ATRP-based polymers with modular ligation points under thermal and thermomechanical stress

open access: yes, 2015
Linear polystyrenes carrying a mid-chain triazole, esters as well as terminal secondary bromines functionalities were synthesized via activators regenerated by electron transfer (ARGET) atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using a bifunctional ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Copolymers by Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

open access: yes, 2022
