Nonparametric estimation of the preferential attachment function from one network snapshot [PDF]
Preferential attachment is commonly invoked to explain the emergence of those heavy-tailed degree distributions characteristic of growing network representations of diverse real-world phenomena. Experimentally confirming this hypothesis in real-world growing networks is an important frontier in network science research.

Tumor microenvironment drives cancer formation and progression. We analyzed the role of human cancer‐associated adipocytes from patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) stratified as lean, overweight, or obese. RNA‐seq demonstrated that, among the most altered genes involved in the tumor–stroma crosstalk, are ADAM12 and CYP1B1, which were proven to be ...

The relationship between religious attitudes and attachment in late adolescence [PDF]
The purpose of this study, based on the findings that there is a link between the attachment system and the different aspects of religiosity, is to examine the degree of expression of four religious attitudes - literal belief, post-critical belief ...

Pinpointing Neural Correlates of Attachment in Poly-Drug Use: A Diffusion Tensor Imaging Study
An increasing amount of evidence indicates the significance of attachment in the etiology of poly-drug use disorder (PUD). The aim of this study was to investigate associations between PUD and adult attachment in particular, with a focus on white matter (

Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.

Examining the Role of Chloride Ligands on Defect Removal in Imperfectly Attached Semiconductor Nanocrystals for 1D and 2D Attachment Cases [PDF]
Semiconducting, core-shell nanocrystals (NCs) are promising building blocks for the construction of higher dimensional artificial nanostructures using oriented attachment. However, the assembly and epitaxial attachment steps critical to this construction introduce disorder and defects which inhibit the observation of desirable emergent electronic ...

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...
