Key Determinants of Human α-Defensin 5 and 6 for Enhancement of HIV Infectivity

open access: yesViruses, 2017
Defensins are antimicrobial peptides important for mucosal innate immunity. They exhibit a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Analytic solution for preferential attachment probabilities scheme [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Preferential attachment probabilities scheme appear in the context of scale free random graphs [1],[2]. In this work we present preferential attachment probabilities scheme as a sequence of dependent Bernoulli random variables and we give an explicit expression of the transition probabilities.

Mind Matters: A Meta-Analysis on Parental Mentalization and Sensitivity as Predictors of Infant–Parent Attachment

open access: yesPsychological bulletin, 2017
Major developments in attachment research over the past 2 decades have introduced parental mentalization as a predictor of infant–parent attachment security.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Antiviral Mechanism of Action of Epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate and Its Fatty Acid Esters

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG) is the major catechin component of green tea (Cameria sinensis), and is known to possess antiviral activities against a wide range of DNA viruses and RNA viruses.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Narrowing the transmission gap: A synthesis of three decades of research on intergenerational transmission of attachment.

open access: yesPsychological bulletin, 2016
Twenty years ago, meta-analytic results (k = 19) confirmed the association between caregiver attachment representations and child-caregiver attachment (Van IJzendoorn, 1995).

ATTACHMENT

open access: yes, 2023
This article is about the movie "Ilhaq" by the talented director Jahangir Akhmedov. In particular, the creators of the film, how it was made, the plot, difficulties, skillful performance of the actors, mistakes and achievements, the recognition of the audience and other creators who did not play a role in the film, and the awards they won are among ...

Time, the final frontier

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Creep Characterization of Inconel 718 Lattice Metamaterials Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
Herein, the creep characteristics of additively manufactured Inconel 718 metamaterials are investigated. The creep behavior of metamaterials and the effects of microstructural defects are assessed, and the microstructure defects are accurately captured using Kachanov's creep damage model.
