Effects of modified attapulgite on the properties of attapulgite/epoxy nanocomposites
Polymer Composites, 2012AbstractThe aim of this work is to figure out the true effects of filler modification in attapulgite (ATP)/epoxy (EP) nanocomposites through comparing the properties of composites containing pristine or modified ATP clay. ATP particles were first pretreated by a silane coupling agent KH550 and cationic surfactant cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB)

Surface properties of attapulgite
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1983The adsorption of nitrogen at −196 °C and of water and cyclohexane vapors at 35 °C, was measured on attapulgite samples prepared by heating the clay mineral at various temperatures between 30 and 1000 °C for 5 h in (10−5 Torr.). Specific surface areas were estimated from both the BET method (SBET) and the cumulative values obtained from pore structure ...

Rheological Properties of Polypropylene/Attapulgite Nanocomposite
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2010The rheological properties of nanocomposites consisting of organic modified attapulgite and polypropylene are investigated. The morphology of the nanocomposites was studied with scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Linear dynamic viscoelasticity and steady state flow step of the nanocomposites are presented.

Infrared Study of Attapulgite and HCl Treated Attapulgite
Clays and Clay Minerals, 1973AbstractInfrared absorption spectra show important changes in the positions and form of the absorption bands of a film of attapulgite after it has been pumped out. An attempt to differentiate among some of the multiple frequencies due to OH groups is based on the information obtained from dehydration and deuteration experiments. The 1198 cm−1 shoulder,
