Compensation of the contrast and brightness attenuation with depth in confocal microscopy

A confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) captures images from a biological specimen in different depths and provides one with a stack of precisely registered fluorescent images. However, image intensities suffer from light loss distortions showing contrast and brightness degradation of images with depth.

OCT skin image enhancement through attenuation compensation

The enhancement of optical coherence tomography (OCT) skin images can help dermatologists investigate the morphologic information of the images more effectively. In this paper, we propose an enhancement algorithm with the stages that includes speckle reduction, skin layer detection, and attenuation compensation.

This paper discusses a simple proof for the geometrical construction for the design of a phase lead compensator with minimum attenuation. Also, certain equations used in the proof are shown to be useful in the analytical determination of the attenuation factor and pole-zero locations of such a compensator.

The methods include a multiplicative technique and a single-iterative technique, both applied after filtered backprojection, and two different implementations of an attenuation-weighted filtered backprojection technique (A-W FBP).

Compensated Precision High-Voltage Attenuator

A high-voltage divider consisting of twelve 2.5 megohm units enclosed by metal spinnings is modified to have good frequency response up to 200 kc. This is done by compensating for the capacity of the spinnings to ground by introducing an appropriate capacity from the spinnings to the high-voltage source.
