Multifont classification using typographical attributes [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition. ICDAR '99 (Cat. No.PR00318), 1999
This paper introduces a multifont classification scheme to help with the recognition of multifont and multisize characters. It uses typographical attributes such as ascenders, descenders and serifs obtained from a word image. The attributes are used as an input to a neural network classifier to produce the multifont classification results.

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, Volume 77, Issue 5, Page 714-726, May 2026.
Abstract ChatGPT and related technologies have revived an old issue in information science (IS) concerning information retrieval (IR) versus document retrieval. Constrained Semi-Supervised Learning Using Attributes and Comparative Attributes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the problem of semi-supervised bootstrap learning for scene categorization. Existing semi-supervised approaches are typically unreliable and face semantic drift because the learning task is under-constrained. This is primarily because they ignore the strong interactions that often exist between scene categories, such as the common ...
