Sulfur electroadsorption on Au(111)

Electrochimica Acta, 2004
Abstract In this paper, we have reviewed our results about S adsorption on Au(1 1 1) surfaces derived from electrochemical, in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and surface X-ray diffraction (SXD) measurements.

Anodic oxidation of Au(111)

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1997
The initial stages of the anodic oxidation of Au(111) were investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry as well as in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The results suggest that the place exchange process, which initiates the oxide formation, starts at step edges.

Faceting and reconstruction of stepped Au(111)

Physical Review B, 1995
We present the results of an x-ray scattering study of the structure and morphology of a stepped Au(111) surface between 480 and 1225 K. At the highest temperatures studied, the surface phase separates to form three distinct orientational phases, each of which is reconstructed.

Ag UPD on Au(100) and Au(111)

Electrochimica Acta, 1998
The underpotential deposition (UPD) of Ag in the systems Au(hkl)/Ag + , ClO - 4 and Au(hkl)/ Ag + , SO 2- 4 with (hkl) = (100), (111) was studied by in situ STM and different electrochemical techniques including charge-coverage measurements with the twin-electrode thin-layer (TTL) technique.

Polymerization at the Alkylthiolate−Au(111) Interface

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2007
The density functional theory is used to explore alkylthiolates (RS) bonded to Au(111) and gold adatoms on Au(111). Adsorption of RS to adatoms in a structure characterized as an (RSAu)x polymer is strongly preferred over terrace adsorption. The energetic gain upon polymerization is large enough to drive the required Au(111) reconstruction. The results

Electron Dynamics at Polyacene/Au(111) Interfaces

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2007
Two-photon photoemission (2PPE) spectroscopy is used to examine the excited electronic structure and dynamics at polyacene/Au(111) interfaces. Image resonances are observed in all cases (benzene, naphthalene, anthrathene, tetracene, and pentacene), as evidenced by the free-electron like dispersions in the surface plane and the dependences of these ...

Adsorptive Behavior of Dimethylglyoxime on Au(111)

Langmuir, 2011
Dimethylglyoxime (DMG) adsorbed on Au(111) was investigated using electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). STM experiments revealed three different structures of adsorbed DMG at open circuit potential (~0.07 V versus Ag/AgCl): (2√3×2√3)R30°-α, (2√3×4√3)R30°-β, and (2√3×4√3)R30°-γ.

Electrocompression of the Au(111) Surface Layer during Au Electrodeposition

Physical Review Letters, 2005
In situ grazing-incidence x-ray diffraction studies of reconstructed Au(111) electrodes in aqueous electrolyte solutions are presented, which reveal a significantly increased compression of the Au surface layer during Au electrodeposition as compared to Au(111) surfaces under ultrahigh vacuum conditions or in the Au-free electrolyte.

Ge films on Au(111) and Al(111): thermal stability

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2019
Abstract We present an analysis of Ge films grown on Au(111) and Al(111) under UHV conditions, including studies on the desorption and segregation of Ge. For desorption of a multilayer Ge/Au film, a two-step process was observed with a smooth transition in the 500-770 K range.
