Swertiamarin ameliorates diet-induced obesity by promoting adipose tissue browning and oxidative metabolism in preexisting obese mice

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica, 2022
Obesity is a risk factor for many metabolic diseases. Efficient therapeutic strategies are urgently needed. Swertiamarin (STM) prevents obesity and the associated insulin resistance and inflammation. However, the therapeutic effects of STM on preexisting

GRAPHENE: JUNCTIONS AND STM SPECTRA [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2012
The presence of low-energy Dirac-like quasiparticles is one of the central features responsible for plethora of recent theoretical and experimental studies on graphene. In this review, we focus on the effect of the Dirac nature of these quasiparticles on two separate aspects.

Intrinsically disordered and pliable Starmaker-like protein from medaka (Oryzias latipes) controls the formation of calcium carbonate crystals. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Fish otoliths, biominerals composed of calcium carbonate with a small amount of organic matrix, are involved in the functioning of the inner ear. Starmaker (Stm) from zebrafish (Danio rerio) was the first protein found to be capable of controlling the ...

Zebrafish stm is involved in the development of otoliths and of the fertilization envelope

open access: yesReproduction and Fertility, 2021
Using an in vivo assay, we selected 11 genes that were highly upregulated during the induction of ovulation in zebrafish using microarray analysis and RNA sequencing. The starmaker gene (stm) was one of these genes.

Atomic scale spin‐dependent STM on magnetite using antiferromagnetic STM tips [PDF]

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, 2005
AbstractSTM tips made from antiferromagnetic MnNi have been used to investigate the atomic structure of the (001) and (111) surfaces of Fe3O4. The clean (001) surface displays a (√2 × √2)R45° superlattice, which is attributed to charge‐ordering on the surface, where Fe2+‐Fe2+ and Fe3+‐Fe3+ dimers can be discriminated.

Submesoscale Dynamics in the Gulf of Aden and the Gulf of Oman

open access: yesFluids, 2020
We have investigated the surface and subsurface submesoscale dynamics in the Gulf of Aden and the Gulf of Oman. Our results are based on the analyses of regional numerical simulations performed with a primitive equation model (HYCOM) at submesoscale ...
