Digital Audio Compression [PDF]
Audio data requires a large number of bits for representation. For example, CD quality stereo audio requires 176.4 Kbytes/sec data rate for transmission or storage. This bandwidth is too large for many applications such as voice transmission over the Internet. Even when there is no live audio transmission, the storage cost may be high. An audio CD only

Robust Audio Watermarks in Frequency Domain
In this paper an audio watermarking technique is presented, using log-spectrum, dirty paper codes and LDPC for watermark embedding. This technique may be used as a digital communication channel, transmitting data at about 40 b/s.

Memristors based on trimethylsulfonium (phenanthroline)tetraiodobismuthate have been utilised as a nonlinear node in a delayed feedback reservoir. This system allowed an efficient classification of acoustic signals, namely differentiation of vocalisation of the brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula).
