Do auditory deviants evoke cortical state changes under anaesthesia? A proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Context‐dependent sensory processing within the predictive coding framework relies on detecting mismatches between incoming stimuli and internal predictive models. Sensory deviants elicit prediction errors, seen as enhanced neural responses, that update these models and influence attention and behaviour.

Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder in a patient with normal hearing and its medical management: case presentation and literature review

open access: yesRevista Médica del Hospital General de México
Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD) is a group of alterations of the auditory system that manifests the presence of otoacoustic emissions and the absence of responses in auditory brainstem response.

The what, which, when, why and who of Off responses in the auditory system

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend In this article, we will first review ‘What’ different mechanisms are involved in the generation of Off responses at the sub‐cortical and cortical level of the auditory system. Then, we evaluate ‘Which’ stimulus properties elicit Off responses at the different levels of the auditory system.

Cross‐modal predictive oculomotor control: visually acquired prediction transfers to vestibular‐driven eye movements

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Schematic illustrating that visually driven optokinetic responses (OKR) and vestibularly driven vestibulo‐ocular reflexes (VOR) share a common timing mechanism composed of the cerebellum and the velocity storage mechanism (VSM). Predictive OKR (pOKR), characterized by predictive deceleration (brown arrow)—a gradual slowing of eye

The Ontogenetic Development of Rapid Eye Movement Sleep in Early Life and Its Regulatory Mechanisms

open access: yesInternational Journal of Developmental Neuroscience, Volume 86, Issue 1, February 2026.
REM sleep was first identified in humans and cats in the late 1950s and exhibits a conserved developmental trajectory across species. This study elucidates key characteristic changes during REM sleep development, thereby providing a foundation for improving the prevention and treatment of various neurodevelopmental disorders.
