Amplitude and frequency-modulated stimuli activate common regions of human auditory cortex [PDF]
Hall et al. (Hall et al., 2002, Cerebral Cortex 12:140–149) recently showed that pulsed frequency-modulated tones generate considerably higher activation than their unmodulated counterparts in non-primary auditory regions immediately posterior and ...

Steep‐Switching Memory FET for Noise‐Resistant Reservoir Computing System
We demonstrate the steep‐switching memory FET with CuInP2S6/h‐BN/α‐In2Se3 heterostructure for application in noise‐resistant reservoir computing systems. The proposed device achieves steep switching characteristics (SSPGM = 19 mV/dec and SSERS = 23 mV/dec) through stabilization between CuInP2S6 and h‐BN.

Category-specific responses to faces and objects in primate auditory cortex
Auditory and visual signals often occur together, and the two sensory channels are known to infl uence each other to facilitate perception. The neural basis of this integration is not well understood, although other forms of multisensory infl uences have

Coordinated forms of noradrenergic plasticity in the locus coeruleus and primary auditory cortex
The cerebral cortex is plastic and represents the world according to the significance of sensory stimuli. However, cortical networks are embodied in complex circuits, including neuromodulatory systems such as the noradrenergic locus coeruleus, providing ...

Review: Do the Different Sensory Areas within the Cat Anterior Ectosylvian Sulcal Cortex Collectively Represent a Network Multisensory Hub? [PDF]
Current theory supports that the numerous functional areas of the cerebral cortex are organized and function as a network. Using connectional databases and computational approaches, the cerebral network has been demonstrated to exhibit a hierarchical ...

Cortical Response to Acute Implantation of the Utah Optrode Array in Macaque Cortex
Delivering light deep into the brain over a large volume while causing minimal tissue damage is a major challenge for non‐human primate optogenetics. This study evaluates Utah Optrode Array designs in vivo, revealing how changes in shank geometry, surface texture, and insertion parameters minimize acute damage—offering a path toward high‐precision ...

The auditory cortex morphometry predicts variations in hearing acuity: a preliminary study
Background The auditory cortex plays a vital role in hearing acuity processing. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between hearing acuity and the morphometry of the auditory cortex to investigate whether declines in hearing acuity correlate ...

State-Dependent Population Coding in Primary Auditory Cortex
Sensory function is mediated by interactions between external stimuli and intrinsic cortical dynamics that are evident in the modulation of evoked responses by cortical state.

Reciprocal anatomical relationship between primary sensory and prefrontal cortices in the human brain [PDF]
The human brain exhibits remarkable interindividual variability in cortical architecture. Despite extensive evidence for the behavioral consequences of such anatomical variability in individual cortical regions, it is unclear whether and how different ...
