Hump‐Shaped Relationship Between Microbial Carbon Use‐Efficiency and Soil Organic Carbon in Alpine Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
On the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau, microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) peaks at intermediate soil organic carbon levels and declines thereafter. In carbon‐rich soils, the formation of stable mineral‐associated organic carbon is decoupled from microbial CUE.

Measurement of upward-going milli-charged particles at the Pierre Auger Observatory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
It is assumed that superheavy dark matter particles with O(EeV) mass may decay to relativistic milli-charged particles (MCPs). The upward-going MCPs passing through the Earth can be measured by the fluorescence detectors (FD) of the Pierre Auger ...

Cu─O─Al Interfacial Engineering on Cu Nanowires for Durable CO2 Electroreduction Into Multi‐Carbon Products

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Cu nanowire/AlOx core‐shell catalyst is reported for CO2 electroreduction. Acting as a Lewis acid, the AlOx shell not only stabilizes Cu+ species at the Cu─O─Al interface but also creates an alkaline local microenvironment via *OH adsorption. This dual functionality stabilizes the catalyst structure while promoting the C─C coupling process, resulting

Estimating the Relative Biological Effectiveness of Auger Electron Emitter 123I in Human Lymphocytes

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
Auger electron emitters are considered to be a promising strategy for targeted radionuclide therapy of metastatic diseases, given their high linear energy transfer (LET) and short range in tissue which could potentially limit normal tissue toxicity ...

A Quest for the Mechanism of Ultrahigh Resolution SEM Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using Monte Carlo simulations with explicit definitions of SE1 and SE2 align with a cascade secondary electron production model, this work shows that the 3D nanostructure modulated SE2 emission enhances other than to reduce topographical contrast via a “miniature Faraday cup” effect.

Optically-dressed resonant Auger processes induced by high-intensity x-rays

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We have unveiled coherent multiphoton interferences originating from different quantum paths taken by the Auger electron induced by a high-intensity x-ray/extreme ultraviolet pulse under the presence of a strong optical field.

Unraveling Band‐Tail Effects on Temperature‐Dependent Emission in GaAsBi via Photoluminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative dual‐spectroscopy approach resolves the debate over GaAsBi's emission temperature sensitivity. By combining temperature‐dependent photoluminescence and transmission spectroscopy, the method decouples the contributions of band‐tail states from the intrinsic band‐edge behavior.

Observation of suppressed Auger mechanism in type-I quantum well structures with delocalized electron-hole wavefunctions

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
We report the first observation of non-threshold Auger mechanism for a quantum well structure with Type-I band alignment. Excitation-dependent photoluminescence measurements were used to extract the Auger recombination coefficients from 77 K up to room ...
