Augmented Lagrangian Digital Image Correlation
Experimental Mechanics, 2018Digital image correlation (DIC) is a powerful experimental technique for measuring full-field displacement and strain. The basic idea of the method is to compare images of an object decorated with a speckle pattern before and after deformation, and thereby to compute the displacement and strain fields.

We propose a new augmented Lagrangian (AL) method for solving the mathematical program with complementarity constraints (MPCC), where the complementarity constraints are left out of the AL function and treated directly. Two observations motivate us to propose this method: The AL subproblems are closer to the original problem in terms of the constraint

It is well known that, for a nonlinear program, any Karush–Kuhn–Tucker point that satisfies the second order sufficient condition is also a strict local minimum of the augmented Lagrangian with an underlying penalty parameter sufficiently large. A main theme of the paper is to strengthen the theorem and bring to light an interesting connection among ...

Augmented Lagrangian Objective Penalty Function
Numerical Functional Analysis and Optimization, 2015Augmented Lagrangian function is one of the most important tools used in solving some constrained optimization problems. In this article, we study an augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function and a modified augmented Lagrangian objective penalty function for inequality constrained optimization problems.

Augmented Lagrangian Duality for Composite Optimization Problems
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2014This article studies augmented duality Lagrangian methods for the solution of composite optimization problems. The paper begins with an overview of augmented Lagrangians and their use for solving nonlinear problems as well as the prior research in the field of composite optimization.

AUGMENTED LAGRANGIAN FINITE-ELEMENTS FOR PLATE CONTACT PROBLEMS
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1996The work investigates the unilateral frictionless contact between a plate and a rigid obstacle. Two problems are studied: a plate constrained through unilateral edge supports, and a plate seating initially in its undeformed configuration at a given distance from a rigid support. The attention is concentrated on two augmented Lagrangian formulations. An
