Augmented Lagrangian method for second-order cone programs under second-order sufficiency

Journal of Global Optimization, 2020
This paper addresses problems of second-order cone programming important in optimization theory and applications. The main attention is paid to the augmented Lagrangian method (ALM) for such problems considered in both exact and inexact forms.

Partially Augmented Lagrangian Method for Matrix Inequality Constraints

SIAM Journal on Optimization, 2004
Summary: We discuss a partially augmented Lagrangian method for optimization programs with matrix inequality constraints. A global convergence result is obtained. Applications to hard problems in feedback control are presented to validate the method numerically.

Penalty Methods, Barrier Methods and Augmented Lagrangians

1998
Abstract We now turn to study some general optimization methods upon which we can later base the design of model decomposition algorithms (see Chapter 1). These general methods for constrained nonlinear optimization are the penalty methods that employ penalty or barrier functions giving rise to so-called exterior penalty methods or ...

Penalty and Augmented Lagrangian Methods

2017
This chapter introduces two very important concepts in constrained nonlinear optimization. These are penalty and augmented Lagrangian concepts. The idea is that both these concepts replace the original problem by a sequence of sub-problems in which the constraints are expressed by terms added to the objective function.

A Consensus-Based Distributed Augmented Lagrangian Method

2018 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2018
In this paper, we propose a distributed algorithm to solve multi-agent constrained optimization problems. Specifically, we employ the recently developed Accelerated Distributed Augmented Lagrangian (ADAL) algorithm that has been shown to exhibit faster convergence rates in practice compared to relevant distributed methods. Distributed implementation of
